The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

Not at concert level or a Kate Liu despite my bias but could do some justice to a number of his preludes. Taught me the minute waltz albeit I was more thumbs than fingers and never had a gifted ear for music like she did. You are spot on with Chopin covered more majors and minors than the...

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

Was blessed by the fact that my mother collected a number of classical albums / music pieces from the father Bach to post modern and used to play them day in day out when I was growing up but this one is not on the list of them. She learnt to play a number of Chopin pieces/works. Looking...

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

I have listened to a fair swag of Rush especially their early music a lot of it not by choice and while I have little of their catalogue this album I do have but have not played it on my old player for many a year so decided to clean up the record player to see if it was still functioning and it...

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

if you were born a little earlier some 10 years earlier like me Rob I think your tastes would be a little different but you would still enjoy what you do now. As I have got older I have found a better appreciation for the simplicity and complexity of some of the music I had little time in fact...

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

It wasn't lost on me that one of your favourite albums you have excellently reviewed to date are from Adelaide where a number of wonderful artists started their careers including the most successful artists albeit I don't like using that term Jimmy Barnes once lead singer for Cold Chisel who...

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

Interesting you mention Rush and Led Zep in the same sentence as its IMO and that connection which is not obvious to everyone and I cannot figure out why in their early years as you say before Peart that I thought they had some stuff worth listening to but the imitation attempt particularly in...

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

Definitely divide opinion at the extremes , one of my sons and my nephews that as a rule don't get on both despise them and they are musicians that play in bands. Small sample I know but it appears to be the same for all their mates share similar views and while many of their tracks are hard to...

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

I would have given it a 10/10 but in my world there is no 10/10 as their is always some imperfection of music to the ear if not the soul. In saying that Let it be IMO is by far my favourite listing to date on this thread and for me there is a world of difference between an 8 and a 9.5 as music...

    President Joe Biden

I haven't blamed him as you have read and your post should perhaps be directed to those that think he is powerless. It's as you say up to the executive and legislative to come to together for a greater cause and often there is an unfortunate trigger point or points to enact some meaningful...

    President Joe Biden

Are you more interested in Trump or do you actually have a view about gun control in the USA and what can be done to reduce the escalating number of people being shot in the USA. I already know the answer but I am asking you to state your case. Focusing on pasts presidents won't help the US...

    President Joe Biden

this speech could and would come from any political figure that is compelled to respond in words to a mass shooting of innocent lives of any age you would expect nothing less. these points to change Biden raises are those raised by all Presidents in the past after similar occurrences and many...

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

Deceptive Bends was I think their finest work despite no Godley and Creme. I was hooked by the album cover alone and I liked what was inside as well. its one of the few bands that I know that IMO peaked without half of their original line up but nevertheless in my top 20 UK bands of all time.

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

Great review GLS a wonderful summary and takes in much of what I wanted to say so being lazy when it comes to reviews and leaving the best to the likes of Fog and others no doubt to articulate. You have to appreciate how good a songwriter Grahame Gouldman is ( Check out his credits you might be...
