    Charlie Brookers Screen wipe

Where was that then? Don't think he makes any bones that he's an odd ball loner, but he found his voice and most of the time he's very funny.

Awful songs by bands you love

10 Story Lovesong is as good as anything on the first album. The Stone Roses is, on balance, probably my fave album alongside Unknown Pleasures, but whenever I listen to it now, I always skip I Wanna Be Adored. It just grates.

The shooting and killing of Ahmaud Arbery

Wonder why the video took so long to surface? Could it be that it was submitted to the local police who just sat on it because the elder of the 2 assailants was a retired 30 year local cop/detective? Just seen the mugshots of the 2 assailants. They couldn't have looked more like racist...

Films that were acclaimed that are actually rubbish

I liked The Revenant too, apart from not being able to decipher single word Tom Hardy says even on the third viewing.

Films that were acclaimed that are actually rubbish

I liked it. It's pretty downbeat, but well acted. Nothing really happens, as in there is no visually arresting action, but it's a mood piece. I like films about normal people in relatable situations.

    Royal Mail to Strike?

They've only suspended letter delivery on a Saturday, not parcels. We all have to go in tomorrow, but god knows what they'll have us doing? RM management want to go to a 5 day letter delivery model, but actually want to ditch a tuesday delivery not saturday. However, the lockdown/pandemic has...

Will the country be a nicer place when this is over?

    An interesting read ... https://www.theguardian.com/world/commentisfree/2020/apr/30/walter-scheidel-a-shock-to-the-established-order-can-deliver-change ... posing a bit of a conundrum.

What make of dog for a beginner?

East European Village Dog - there are thousands of them looking for a loving home. Ours came from Romania. We got him at 4 months, and he's mostly a delight except when he slurps my chicken soup, eats the pack of sausages off the kitchen table or, yesterday, dug up the courgette plants we'd...

    Book suggestions

A great book about the policy decisions and personalities behind the US war in Vietnam is "The Best and the Brightest" by David Halberstam. Even though JFK assembled supposedly the finest minds and most dynamic administrators in his foreign policy cabinet they still fucked it up. It's a...
