    Priced out?

Surely for anyone travelling from Dublin, the match ticket price would be a very small element of the total cost: match ticket, air fares, transfer costs, hotel, and eating out. I know this from travelling from Edinburgh for many years. Ten years ago the hotel would cost £30-50, the train fare...

    Tottenham 1 City 3 May 1968

I was at that match. I don’t remember much of the details of the match other than City winning fairly easily. It was my second trip to Spurs, the first was a year earlier. I haven’t been there since apart from the Cup match earlier this season.

Tuesday 18th June - Fixture Release

Sounds like a David Cameron error to mix up Villa and West Ham.

    European Span of Success

Regarding the Fairs Cup, it was a weird tournament. In the early years it two up to three seasons to complete and had a ‘combined’ London team. There was also a combined Barcelona team with one player from Espanyol. There was a limit of one club per City. Initially it had the whiff of a Mickey...

Time for the CFG to get teams in Ireland and Scotland.

Dunfermline is a City, awarded the status in 2022, none of the others are.

Joe Hart to retire at the end of 2023-24 season

He conceded nine goals when playing for Scotland against England at Wembley in 1961. At the time, Scotland were highly competitive against England and, indeed, were only losing by 5-3 with 12 minutes to play. Haffey got most of the blame for the 9-3 defeat and never played for Scotland again...

Scotland did have Frank Haffey in goal at one stage!

Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

In any event land can be decontaminated using a variety of approaches. The training centre was built on the site of a highly contaminated former chemical works. You can either seal the contamination in, or remove it and replace with fresh soil or use 'clean cover' to dilute the contamination...

They had to change the name as it appears that the money generated was not going to charity.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I don't think that Chevrolet even sold cars in the UK at that time. Any GM cars sold would be badged as other marques from the group.

    Champions League Draw - 29th August '24 | Opponents (pg69) | Fixtures (pg128)

Its rather like Hearts losing the Scottish League on goal average to Kilmarnock in 1964-65 when they would have won on goal difference and subsequently lost to Celtic in 1985-86 on goal difference when they would have won on goal average.

    North Stand Construction Discussion

City dominated the match and were leading from an Alex Harley goal. It would have been arounf 5 minutes from the end when Law won the dodgy penalty. That draw pretty well ensured relegation for City and survival for United with the final round of fixtures to play.

    North Stand Construction Discussion

I can't imagine Albert Quixall as a scrap dealer. I remember reading that he used ballet dancing as a aide to training when he was with Sheffield Wednesday. He scored the very late equaliser in the 1963 derby in 1963 which effectively sent City down.

    Happy 75th Birthday Brian Kidd

My best memory of Brian Kidd was at Wembley in 1968 in a European Cup Final. I had secured tickets for the match from Benfica. The United fans were too dumb to think of doing that. I wrote to Benfica using an International Money Order and asked for seven tickets. They sent us five. I...

Do you care about being considered a 'big' team?

Aye but when Rangers were shit in the early 1980s, they were getting crowds as low as 7,000-8,000 when third or fourth in the Premier League. Then Graeme Souness arrived along with wads of cash and attendances went up and Rangers won something like 10 out of the next 11 titles.
