Think we'll need to see on the fee, City sources will be keen to cite the upfront fee, while German sources will include all the add-ons. The truth will probably be somewhere in the middle. Regardless, glad this sounds like it's actually moving and he'll be here well ahead of the first league game.

I’ll be the first to eat crow if it’s less than €100m (£86m)

What page number will we be at when the fee agreement is leaked? I’ll go for 1132

This is the exact move then to avoid the situation we're currently seeing on the wing and midfield. Waiting until your short is a bad situation, where the squad is now thin and they are seemingly having a hard time finding good targets.

And if Walker and/or Laporte go? Playing a formation with 4 CBs requires, at a minimum, 5 CBs and ideally 6 imo. I don't think they'll replace Walker, who still seems likely to leave. As much as I like Rico Lewis, he's not a defender in the current setup and neither is Gomez.

I don’t think there’d be any waiting since pre-season is basically over, but they generally don’t announce anything until he’s done everything. If it’s him flying in tomorrow, he could do medical, signing, and media in a day, so possibly a Wednesday announcement.

Usually no announcement until they sign, there was an exception for Haaland last year but I think that's the exception. I'd say Wednesday at the earliest for a Man City announcement if he's flying in tomorrow, gives them time to get photos, welcome interview, etc. I'd find it hard to believe no...

It's pretty clearly not gone to plan, any suggestion it has or "we don't know what the plan was" is nonsense. Semantics of "rejected" aside (think that's only really Bellingham), they've gone for Bellinham, Gundo, and Rice and missed. Initial briefs indicated Kovacic was not a replacement but...

Should be mentioned that this season, the ratio is 90%, next season is 80%, and finally 70% from 2025/26 onwards. On the broader point of ffp, revenue matters regardless under the old rules or new, it sets your maximum expenditure.

They can make room. There’s no squad space issues in pre-season, the champions league squad list isn’t due until the week the group stage kicks off.

Why read it then? I get the viewpoint of trust the club, let’s wait and see where we’re at when the window closes, we just won the treble, etc, etc. but then the transfer forum probably isn’t for you, all the people coming to these threads effectively saying shut up is so pointless

What purpose would that serve lmao The figures are the figures, if it’s less €100m (including add-ons) then good job Tkixi, there was room to negotiate where I thought there wasn’t.

So the valuation hasn’t changed, €100m euros. I’m well aware this is real life and negotiations are a thing, there’s just a huge disparity in this instance where Leipzig have all the leverage. I’ve said numerous times in this thread of course City will be fine without him so not sure why...

Well if it ever gets done I guess we’ll find out, I suspect it will be €100m as Leipzig want. The fact he has 4 years left on his contract, a higher release clause next year, and they’ve already made a ton of sales this year, tells me Leipzig aren’t bluffing on their number.

    Josko Gvardiol

We have no idea if they’ve changed the goal posts, and if they have, it was due to the agreement being leaked, not because the valuation was met. The valuation was clear from the start and Leipzig have absolutely zero reason to compromise.

It doesn’t take this long if they were offering €100m from the start
