    Donald Trump

Clearly the women aren't the issue, but you wouldn't think that from a quick look at US twitter. Sexism is on a different scale in the States.

    Donald Trump

It's because the Secret Service employs women, apparently. Woke etc etc.

Yes, don't get it either. I've heard that "it'll be fine with Joe" line a bit from older American commentators. Or perhaps they basically think Kamala is unelectable as a woman in sexist US, and it's too late to get campaign funds for any other candidate.

    US Politics Thread

Two of my best mates live in Minneapolis and Chicago. Big fans of our pubs, love Manchester beer and curry caffs. Really intelligent folk (Maths teacher, IT guy), life-long Democrats (more Bernie than Biden). But they still seem reticent about ditching Joe. I just don't get it.

The Non Political James Timpson thread.

I use Timpsons a lot for keys and watches and similar, their staff are a great advert for the company and James.

    England v Slovakia - Sun 30th June, 17:00 | Euro 2024 Round of 16

Well I'm glad I woke my 89 year old dad up on his birthday to watch the "golden generation".

    2024 T20 Cricket World Cup

Brilliant defence of 115, Afghanistan ! Sign them up to the legal team, City. Woke up in time to catch the last half hour. Wonderful stuff unless you're an Aussie.

Superb analysis. Thanks for writing what I couldn't articulate.

    Hungary v Switzerland - Sat 15th June, 14:00 | Euro 2024 Group A

Thankfully not, though I'll be there tomorrow (on the way to Liechtenstein. Nope, would scrap VAR tomorrow and live with occasional errors.

    Hungary v Switzerland - Sat 15th June, 14:00 | Euro 2024 Group A

Agree, but I'd rather the error than the delayed celebration.

    The Co-op Live Arena

My lad (23 today) got given ticket for Pumpkins, said sound was best he'd heard at a gig (more a Gorilla/Gulliver's venue fan), which I think counts highly with artists themselves. He had his beer beforehand!

    Hungary v Switzerland - Sat 15th June, 14:00 | Euro 2024 Group A

That delayed and diminished goal celebration is my case against VAR in a nutshell.

    Fire stick in Bulgaria

I'm not surprised. We've been visiting the Baltics & Balkans last 18 months, and rated Bulgaria top. Beautiful, efficient enough, bargain and great food (Veliko Tarnovo particularly). Where's your daughter live ?

    General Election - 4th July 2024

Love Grimsby. That Spoons is one of the busiest in the country, but best pubs are the posh microbrewery (Docks), the floating one (Barge) and the scruffy Old Mill pub (the Rutland) near Blundell park.

NOT an obituary for Roy, but a classic nonetheless.

Dumfries Town Centre, ya or na

We parked our motorhome in the car park and got a knock on the window the next morning (no parking overnight, apparently). You might find the Travelodge for £50 if lucky.

Dumfries Town Centre, ya or na

I've had great Sunday night in Dumfries, one of Scotland's best pub towns outside Aberdeen, Glasgow and edinburgh. Fleshers, Coach and Horses, Douglas Arms, Tam O'Shanter and the Globe (High St) all good. https://retiredmartin.com/2018/07/08/more-ye-olde-penrith/
