I know it’s a bit of a random question, but I thought that this might be the best place to ask. Does anybody know how much it is for 2.5kg of beef fillet in Riga?

The Album Review Club - Christmas Break Until 8th January

XO – Elliot Smith Note to 30-year-old self: this album is better than you gave it credit for – maybe you should have given it more than couple of listens. I bought this album in 1999, the year after it was released, and must have barely played it before deciding that I didn’t like it. I didn’t...

The Bluemoon Song Cup 2024 Champion Is Hilts!

I've just worked out what the final tie in this round is. Considering some of the songs that have gone through, this next match will be like City v Read Madrid.

Great news Gary, really pleased for you and your family.

The Bluemoon Song Cup 2024 Champion Is Hilts!

You can't beat "Good Vibrations" but I think that "God Only Knows" is vying for 2nd place alongside "I Get Around". Of course, this will all be debated in the new Rock Evolution thread when the time comes :)

The Bluemoon Song Cup 2024 Champion Is Hilts!

I’ve come to realise over the last 4 or 5 years that “California Dreamin’” may be one of the greatest songs ever. Not just the song and words as such, but the way it’s performed. The way the main lyrics are sung and then parts repeated. It’s a masterpiece, it would be a worthy winner of the...

    Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 28 - Coatigan - Instrumentals (pg 444)

"Stop Dragging My Heart Around" is a great song - it's on the Tom Petty anthology album I bought. Up there with the greatest £6.99 (something like that) I ever spent on music.

The Album Review Club - Christmas Break Until 8th January

I suspected it was in jest, but in my role of thread runner, I thought I'd send a warning shot across the bows just in case :) I'm glad that there seem to be a reasonable amount of people who are familiar with the thread even if they don't participate regularly. The door is always open for new...

    Prostate cancer

I thought I was young getting it at 55 but the Chris Hoy news is a real wakeup. If I was mid 40s I'd be in to the doctors straight away. I'm so glad I took the test earlier this year. Please, everybody reading this from mid-40s onwards, get yourself checked at the doctors ASAP - it could save...

Yes, the Duomo is superb. I remember being approached by a Yaya Toure lookalike in the main square - my hand went to my wallet in my pocket straight away and didn't leave until I'd managed to extricate myself from the conversation. I'm hoping that Bergamo will be a bit quieter.

    Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 28 - Coatigan - Instrumentals (pg 444)

Reading up it's from 1981. I didn't get into music until 1986 so everything before this year is catch-up for me. Now, obviously I have heard plenty from the 50s onwards, my favourite Tom Petty song is "The Waiting" from the same year, but there are always going to be gaps in what I have heard...

I don't think there are any "great unwashed" in here to be fair. Have a read through the thread and you'll find plenty of informed opinion.

Sorry to hear that your cancer has spread but if chemo was not recommend then I guess that means your oncologist thinks that the prognosis is good? I'm on 3-monthly Prostap injections - prepare for some serious hot flushes! But as I tell everybody, if this is the worst that I have to suffer...

The Album Review Club - Christmas Break Until 8th January

With my use of Spotify and finally having a car that has Apple Play, the chance of me playing CDs again is remote. Maybe in retirement I might treat myself to a CD player but even then I reckon I'd still be mostly streaming. However, I think I'd always keep my top 20 or 30 (or 40 or 50 etc) CDs...

Enjoyed Venice earlier this year and we've booked a weekend in Bergamo in January. Hopefully it's not suffering like Milan!

    Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 28 - Coatigan - Instrumentals (pg 444)

Thanks to @Mancitydoogle for another good playlist. "Touch of Grey" by Grateful Dead was my pick of the initial five. I remember hearing this and seeing the video with the skeletons in the 80s. I had no idea of the cultural significance of the band at the time. The two that I hadn't heard...
