The Album Review Club - Christmas Break Until 8th January

It was earlier in this thread! Here's what I had to say:- Let's see if those instrumentals can get back any points it might lose! Still looking forward to giving it that fair review I promised.

The Album Review Club - Christmas Break Until 8th January

I seem to remember discussing this album with you (and maybe OB1) a few years ago. probably when one of the tracks was included in a playlist or maybe even in the top 100 albums poll. I may have listened to it in full then but maybe I'm misremembering. Anyway, looking at the line-up of...

Sneaky. That's what the caption for the photos says when you hover over it.

The Album Review Club - Christmas Break Until 8th January

It's fair to say that reaction to Queen's Sheer Heart Attack album was a mixed bag. Still, it managed to average 6.82 across 14 votes, and like many @OB1 selections, reaches a respectable place in our table. Next up is @Saddleworth2. This week will be the last Album Club review before we take...

    Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 28 - Coatigan - Instrumentals (pg 444)

Sounds like a good song but another removed because it has vocals!

Removed "Pleasure Dome" - what made you think that this as an instrumental? :)

    Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 28 - Coatigan - Instrumentals (pg 444)

It's supposed to be one nomination a day up to a maximum of 3. But as it's a quiet week, I'll put them all in.

    Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 28 - Coatigan - Instrumentals (pg 444)

Never heard of that. Also features Jon Bon Jovi and Benmont Tench as well. Look forward to giving it a listen. Meanwhile, amongst the tumbleweed, I’ll pick another from this year. “Malfunction Junction” - Billy Strings

Rock Evolution – The History of Rock & Roll - 1961 (pg 62)

Yes, I enjoyed the Charles Mingus track as well. It’s one of those names that I’ve seen before, but for all I knew, he could have been a politician, a magician or a news anchor! Also “I Fought The Law” by The Crickets, which I enjoyed more than the later version by some English band :)

sci-fi & fantasy films and tv series

Dark Matter on Apple TV. Read the book, by Blake Crouch, a number of years ago and this was a good adaptation.

I read a review of this a few weeks ago and it’s on my “to read” list. Glad to hear that somebody on here rates it highly too.

Sheer Heart Attack - Queen I put Queen in the same category as ABBA; I can quite happily listen to their greatest hits, but I don’t feel the need to listen to any of their studio albums in full. Both bands seem to be regularly scoffed at by “serious” music fans, the impression I get is that...

Rock Evolution – The History of Rock & Roll - 1961 (pg 62)

In amongst a plethora of novelty songs, in Sam Cooke, The Miracles and Barrett Strong, among others, I think we are seeing beginning of what will be a strong run of soul music.
