    David Coote

The elite list of referees is so small, pretty much all of them get the League Cup Final, within a couple of years of being promoted to it. All except the one crying about it maybe? The point about him being the first ever referee to be “involved in both finals” is a pretty flimsy one...

The match day buzz never leaves.

I drank in there for 30 years mate and they never put me in the room on the right ( The Boudoir as Michael liked to call it ) Either I’m gay or there was another reason he didn’t want you in with the general population.

If last night wasn’t bad enough…

They wouldn’t dare complain publicly for fear of getting dogs abuse for being overpaid, out of touch egotists. But I bet they absolutely fucking hate doing stuff like this. If they offered me £20 million a year, I’d say, call it 15 and excuse me the punter interaction.

The match day buzz never leaves.

He said it was a small pub before you get to Claremont Road, if I read it right.

The match day buzz never leaves.

Apart from Kippax Street itself, the only routes from the ground to Claremont Road, is either via Maine Road or Yew Tree Road. And you’re talking probably 50 yards at most. You must be going back a very, very long time, or getting a bit mixed up here I think.

The match day buzz never leaves.

The weird thing is that for anyone who hasn’t missed a home game since about the late 70s, they’d have been to more games at the new ground than they would at Maine Road.

North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc

It’s being explained several times by people with knowledge of these things why it isn’t possible to have too many trams on the same section of track at the same time. Something to do with the electricity in the overhead cables.

Heaviest home defeat you've witnessed either at Maine Rd or the Etihad

I think we scored, they equalised, we scored, they equalised again. All in about the first 15 minutes. That was as good as it got though. I think they were top of the Premier League at the time and it showed after the mad start had calmed down.

Heaviest home defeat you've witnessed either at Maine Rd or the Etihad

Liverpool beat us 5-0 in 1982. I’m not sure if anyone has matched that. Can’t remember if they have. But certainly no one has beaten it in my time. I’m sure we must have conceded 6 at home at some point in history. But it was a very long time ago, the last time it happened.

    Metrolink to / from Etihad

I mean, you can’t guarantee any trip anyway will go perfectly to plan. What do you do, never leave the house? You’re really cancelling a trip because of the 1% ( probably a lot less ) chance that you can’t get back to Wythenhawe after the game on public transport?

    Metrolink to / from Etihad

I think whoever the person in charge of making the decisions, panicked. He probably got a message that there was some crushing going on down on the platform. He immediately ordered all the entrances to be shut, which was fair enough, while they assessed the situation. But they gave no...

    Metrolink to / from Etihad

Tuesday is the first time that a concert and a football match will be starting at pretty much the same time. The majority of football fans should be gone before the concert finishes but it’ll be interesting getting there, with a potential 20,000 + more people than usual heading to the area at...

    Metrolink to / from Etihad

To be fair to the employees they were all in the dark. The issue was that large crowds were arriving for the concert and some kids apparently got crushed getting off as football fans were attempting to get on. Someone made the decision to tell football fans that all trams were suspended until...

    Ticket points survey.

Hopefully this will lead to a long overdue debate about the pros and cons of the ticket points system on here.

Hooliganism and Violence Maine Road 80's/early 90's

Was about to say, while there were certainly some pretty handy blokes drank in there, The Claremont was always more a scarfers pub. United even took it over pre match, in one of the last Maine Road derbies. They’d let it be known that they were going to try and take one of City’s pubs on the...

    The TV Quiz Show Thread

I’ve been watching repeats of the ‘1% Club’ at the minute. I’m absolutely terrible at it but find some of the questions really interesting. It’s funny the way our brains work differently. I’m pretty good at quizzes and would modestly suggest that I’m reasonably intelligent generally. But...

Probably why they’re doing it bit by bit, rather than all at once.

£10 F&B Credit - All Season Ticket Holders

There’s no downside to free stuff, so it’s a nice touch from the club. But haven’t people on here with physical cards said that they can’t get the usual ST discount because the machine can only read mobile tickets?
