I was thinking this was a movie - is this the series? Might be a good winter shout. Need something like that for January/February!!

    TV Series

May have seen that a while back. The King and the Last Duel were recent films of that ilk I enjoyed. Not often mate, but I'd imagine the costs are pretty extravagant. Just stumbled across the 'Greek Knight' which may satiate me on Xmas eve1 I'll report back....just off to pour some mead....

    Keir Starmer

I did actually feel that was one of those weird dreams: a synapses amalgamation of train travel, Christmas and an utterly bizarre PM....but it really happened right?

    Rishi Sunak

I haven't' got the link on this but on the same day there was a story about the UKs black market in basic foods. Was an interesting companion piece to the mince pie nonsense. Christ. This lot are making me angry on Xmas eve ffs.

    TV Series

Anyonone online atm recommend a 'medieval/geogian' era gritty film. In the mood for something like that. Cold and grim. Last years Terror (tv series) was a good watch (and the other 'ice ridden ship journey' who's name I've forgotten). And I've seen the Northman and the Witch....

Oldman is indeed great. It seemed to have these moments of minor shark jumping and I feel it's totally lost me now, after showing a lot of promise. It's good, but just eye off the ball in many scenes. I'm not sure I'm going to continue :(

Enjoying Slow Horses (just about finished S1) but there are moments where it mildly 'jumps the shark'. I guess if I see it more of dark comedy that helps. Just more than a few moments that lost just a little credibility. That said, it's an enjoyable watch. Anyone else?

    Work's Christmas do

We have ours (winter ball) in January. More civilised affair (nice three course meal in a venue). There will be a couple of hundred there and can't say I'm hugely enthralled with going (there will be travel and a hotel involved too). Can quickly deplete my social battery and often have to put...

    TV Series

Didn't realise there was a new season of Fargo!! Wondered why this was being mentioned above. Thought S4 dropped off a little for me, though still a very high quality show. How is S5 holding up? Another for the Xmas list!!

    TV Series

Ooh - great shout. Really enjoyed the Imagine programme and regret leaving it late to buy tickets for the show (although I suspect there's going to so many more great shows produced and performed at that venue). A real coup for the city having this built here.

    Daily Mail, your media etc

Fine work from Chris Morris. He did lots of good research and engagement with the muslim community making that. Not quite sure what happened with his last movie. Comedy genius that fella....

    TV Series

Aye. I'm off this week and planned to do a few things plus binge watch. Also got hit with a chest bug (which does it's own thing with my asthma) so trying to rest it off asap. Just started it and looks good (cast looks superb too). Started Deadloch last night - will continue to watch and the...

    TV Series

I watched the brief 'making of' afterwards (15 mins on Netflix) and you could just tell from those involved this would end up being a piece of art. Often the subject matter (Chess in this instance) plays second fiddle to the human stories. But these stories were brought to life by people so...

    Brianna Ghey murder guilty verdicts

Just watched one of the parent's speeches outside the courtroom which was, of course, heartbreaking. Did indeed remind me of the Sophie Lancaster case which, like this, is as harrowing as they come. RIP Brianna.

    Alexandole Boris de Pfeffel Johnson

As a quick analogy, imagine getting 40% in an exam and claiming you've passed with distinction.

    TV Series

Incredibly only just got round to watching The Queen's Gambit. I always felt this was connected to the 'Crown' series....some kind of royaly link (even though I knew it was about chess). Absolutely beautiful production that leaves most television in it's wake. Not just the production, but the...

    Quitting work on the spot

I once quit a job in Manchester when I was around 23/24 whilst on a trip to San Francisco. Was a spur of the moment thing and can't recall why I did it. I was staying with a couple in Oakland Cali for two weeks (family friend). He ran a dance record label in San Francisco (was originally from...

    Do you like Christmas?

I've seen my fair share of Xmas's. Amazing ones as a kid growing up (add in your own warm nostalgia aesthetics here). Dipped out when I got older (and my dad died at 11 so that changed things). Then when I had my old children they became wonderful again (from a different perspective). But I...

How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Watched this tonight (on the 'big telly'). Very well made documentary (kind of thing you'd see the BBC or Ch4 produce, or at least comission/air. Was it something that made it onto one of those channels and I missed it? Utterly depressing of course. If only I could cook up a phrase to...
