Hughes calls for clarity over Tevez row, MuEN block comments

You misunderstand the role of the sports editor. He rarely alters my stuff, and when he does it tends to be for legal reasons, maybe he feels I have gone over the top in criticism of someone. He has NEVER altered my stuff to fit a different agenda, and I would be furious if he did. So you stuff...

Hughes calls for clarity over Tevez row, MuEN block comments

Without a shadow of a doubt Balotelli would get the same treatment as a Utd player, if he was doing the same stuff. I know the national paper lads who cover Utd, and believe me, there is no love lost. Are you suggesting the nationals ignored the Wayne Rooney sex scandals, or Giggs, or de Gea...

Hughes calls for clarity over Tevez row, MuEN block comments

Just to clear up one or two other points. Chris Bailey used to be called a Rag, whenever he wrote anything someone didn't agree with. Chris is a proud, lifelong Blue and was an excellent journalist, now doing a good job for City. Someone said I hadn't answered three basic questions. I have, but...

Re: Ex MCFC boss Mark Hughes calls for clarity over Tevez row How do I do that, exactly? -- Sun Oct 09, 2011 2:10 pm -- Yes, it is paranoia. Last season, if I remember correctly, United won the same fixture 6-1, and there was nothing in the MEN. We don't cover academy games due to lack of...

"than"? Use of the word "ever" is also inaccurate, as no-one can predict whether there might be a greater grammar nazi in a future forum. By the way, before you look, I have edited the typos in my last post ;-)

I can't explain that, I didn't write it, but my guess would be just ignorance. It was a news reporter who wrote it, and a young one, at that. The last thing it would be is some kind of bizarre attempt to canonise Stepney and belittle Colin Bell. How would that benefit the MEN in any way? If you...

Hughes calls for clarity over Tevez row, MuEN block comments

This "brown-nosing of United". Can you explain, then, why I was blackballed by United, when I was number two to Stuart Mathieson, for writing articles critical of the Glazer takeover - I was given the Football Supporters Federation's Football Writer of the Year award for it, but messed up any...

Not at all contradictory. I have rung up Joorabchian's PR to ask for their comment and input on the Tevez story, as is my duty. They have never contacted me to give me a story on anything, and I have never rung them to fish for a story.

One last thing. I can't pin down the Independent match report to which one poster referred, saying it had the same last six paragraphs as the MEN report. But if that did happen, the explanation is a simple one. The first match report put up on the MEN website straight after Saturday games is...

What do all the conspiracy theorists out there make of my honest opinion of the Tevez affair? Here: <a class="postlink" href="http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/sport/football/manchester_city/s/1461093_tantrums-turmoil-and-tevez-manchester-city-special"...

I forgot to add that the reason comments about Joorabchian were not allowed was because of an ongoing legal matter between "my mate" Joorabchian and the MEN. That is probably also the reason why comments were disabled.

Re: Ex MCFC boss Mark Hughes calls for clarity over Tevez row Right. I was in contact with Kia Joorabchian's people on the Tevez thing, because - for legal and moral reasons - you HAVE to attempt to put both sides of the story. Or are you only interested in hearing what City say about it? To...

    Memories of the Pink Final

When was the last Pink published Stuart, was it late nineties I hazard a guess? Sorry fella, wasn't ignoring you, I've just not been online for 24 hours or so. The old Pink ceased publication in 2000. They started up the Sunday Pink for a while, hoping that would stem the loss of circulation...

    Memories of the Pink Final

The vans that used to park outside Maine Road and OT did have their own, primitive printing press. Those Pinks were editions that were printed off on the Friday, so obviously had features and news stories but no match reports. The lads in the vans would then print the final scores on them, to...

I am told it was true. Then again, you never knew when the older lads were pulling yer leg or not

    Memories of the Pink Final

We were on computers, but very basic stuff. It's not a lot easier for reporters now at night matches and Sunday afternoon games, I have to file a 1,000-word match report within ten mins of the final whistle. So next time you say "Brennan saw a different match to me", you'll be right, cos I will...

    Memories of the Pink Final

Interested to hear all the memories of the Pink - I used to leg it round to the paper shop to get one for my dad when I was a kid. And weddings - someone would sneak out of the reception and buy ten or 20, and then sell them on to the blokes. My first day at the MEN was a Saturday, in 1998...

    MUEN

How do you know for a fact that I made it up? I certainly did not make it up. I was told it by a well-placed source i.e. someone who would know. If it is not true - and, as I said, no-one but no-one has contradicted it whenever I have used it - then the person who told me has made it up. And...

My hands are up. I got mixed up with the Sheffield Weds game which was a week or two later. Sorry!

    MUEN

I know for a fact that Carlos is on £230,000 a week, but can't quote a source I also know Yaya is on a sum approaching that of Carlos, who is the top earner at the club.
