Well, it looks like you haven't seen him or how he plays. Many players in your list are significantly more physical than him. I still suspect he will struggle in PL.
If it is Zubimendi, it would make sense. He can be considered as a replacement for KP.
Kubo: Small and light weight. A typical La Liga player. He would struggle to withstand PL's pace and physicality.
It's boring to have a full of the-run-of-the-mill utility players, even though tactically that's how we can manage to win matches. (In a way, versatility is an euphemism for all-purpose utility, imo.) We also want specialists who possess mental and physical maturity & experience.
Mitoma has...
We are not interested in Caisedo, nor is he interested in us. He wants Chelsea & he will go to Chelsea this summer. Re Lavia, let's think why Chelsea bid 48m not 50m.
Caisedo will not be a sub for Enzo. He will start as 6, one of the two DMFs while Enzo can take both 6 & 8 roles.
Who said that we need a left-footed right winger? Foden is better on the right if he has to play wide. Allegedly Mitoma is listed as one of the three targets for wingers for this season. City's interest in Mitoma did not suddenly emerge this year. We were one of more than 30 clubs wanting to...
Top wingers/playmakers do manage to create threats while carrying 2 defenders along with them. Tactically, it is silly for any team to depend solely on a lone winger to create chances and expect to go for G/A all by himself all the time. Wingers link up with other players, e.g. other attackers...
Tolmie doesn't say we approached him first. He says that either Paqueta's agent, or WH is trying to sell him to us. And as usual, it's more like the WH marketing team is selling the story to the media & to the guys like Romano to hype up.
I quoted 80m because some other posters mentioned it. I myself believe it would be in the region of 50~60m.
No point in creating what you call a "benchmark". Transfer market is extremely fluid. Valuations change constantly.
I'm not quite sure if I understand what you precisely mean here. The problem is not with other clubs, showing interest in Mitoma. There are plenty of clubs queuing up for his signature. The problem is with Brighton. But, I'm fairly confident that we could get him for a relatively reasonable price.
This is insane. Surely we can get him for 50m.
Do Brighton want to gain a notoriety as an exploitative (sweatshop) company? They got him like 2.5m and only two more years to go since he refuses to sign a new contract.
De Zerbi plays him every minute in every match if he could, while his wages...
His agent should be working hard to find a new club for him. We haven't seen any sign of him doing that may indicate he is content to stay put, perhaps.
Pep's system needs a readjustment. It looks stale. I don't think we continue playing the way we've been playing and win matches against much strengthened teams this season. Our opponents now know how to play well against us. We need to evolve as well.
We are talking about need for a proper "specialist" winger, not a player who can also play wide, though.
In the case of Mitoma, I believe he has played as a wingback, 10 and 8 as well. He plays more as a wide playmaker now.
We shouldn't trust WH. It's more likely that they are trying to sell him to us and as usual their tactics of aggressive exploitation of the media are glaringly obvious. Perhaps, we are in talks with them for Phillips?
