That's an extreme example of bringing on 3 subs at once, with no experience of working together. Blooding youngsters and making more use of squad players could help avoid players playing through injury, playing through exhaustion & getting reinjured after being rushed back (eg Akanji vs Forest &...

Conversely, some of the injuries & reinjuries could have been avoided by making greater use of squad & youth players.

Shame about Grealish - he was good in that first half vs Villa then suffered when Gvardiol was moved to CB.

More than likely. I think with the current midfield around him, he gets exposed. If he was just required to sit next to Haaland and make plays, he'd have more longevity but we just can't accommodate that

Tbh, he was pretty poor recently. Created a couple of chances but gave the ball away, couldn't make any challenges and couldn't press. His delivery in the United game from FK & corner was awful. Having him in a short burst might suit him better.

Christ, actually dropped Gundogan! Presume Kyle is still busy celebrating Christmas with all his kids. Decent attacking that, let's hope they click!

It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

Would hope that with the Zubimendi/Bruno G news that we are far progressed with other signings. Whatever moves we make need to be done straight away, with a big CL game against PSG on the horizon and the need to get out of our slump.

    Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

But by virtue of playing them, they give the older/senior players more rest - Gundogan & Bernardo have played more minutes than they should have and we are in a loop of rushing injured defenders back in, only for them to be reinjured. They can also potentially offer greater upside in different...

Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Not sure about lack of effort, but we've definitely seen our press diminish in second halves of games. Not just tactically going for a mid-block/press, we just aren't pressing effectively. We seemed to get some success in the first half yesterday but it just completely dropped off.

Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I find it so daft that fans are arguing against the need for Pep to change things & be pragmatic with his strategy, selection & tactics based on the players available. I don't think that Pep needs to go or to change his principles indefinitely, but to think he should persist as is, with the same...

To be honest, when people fall back on that shite, there's no point in engaging anymore. It's always used by people who have nothing worthwhile to say when being called out. Ah well!

Fuck me. I presume his meaning is due to injuries & the squad quality?
