It was OK. Some highlights (the kid especially), but found it meandering and trying to address far too many issues without really addressing any.

For me that was the highlight. Both his performance and hers too. I feel like I'm out on a limb here but I found the series a bit disappointing. It certainly wasn't the "greatest TV I've ever seen" as some say. Not for me anyway.

    It was brilliant. Totally agree.

    TV Series

Adolescence Thought it was great until the last episode. I understood why they did it the way they did but something jarred. The last 10 minutes or so spoilt it for me, even though the acting was really good. Felt a bit contrived and as if I had to have everything explained to me that would have...

I'm perhaps a bit biased; can't stand kebabs or even much other fast food to be honest. And about 30 is probably an underestimation...truly! Honestly believe it's been a blight on society; obesity, litter, etc etc. And I've seen more rats here in 6 years than I ever saw where I used to live.

The food industry is much bigger than just the 30 or so kebab shops/takeaways we have on just on the main street we have around the corner from where I live. And don't get me started on the rats.

They aren't many jobs at all that someone newly arrived to these shores, who is unvetted and unknown, who can't speak or write English, can do. If you understand the jobs market that is.

And probably for a good reason if their standard of English might be detrimental to every other workers welfare.

For which people need to be able to speak English and be able to understand health and safety on a construction site and, currently, have the necessary certificates/cards to show this. It isn't a quick route into a job.

QUOTE="Alan Harper's Tash, post: 18072593, member: 36187"] I’m very dubious that this will happen, but if it does, I hope the government loan them the money at 50% APR. Considering they have a "billion" fans then I suggest they each put a couple of quid in.

Yes, it's both a depressing yet "interesting" topic. For my own family the mental health issues has been there since the 1920s. All of it documented, and in every generation since on our maternal line. Schizophrenia in the main, yet also possible bipolar, personality disorder and now, more...

Thank you ;-) Hopefully we will get through this. The only option at the moment is I offer to pay a 6 months let upfront (out of my meagre savings) so he can get a place of his own and then he pays some back when he is working. And he always been a worker, it's just that he needs some peace of...

My son's situation is perhaps a snapshot of this country at this time; My son is 42 and recently returned to the UK very unwell, after working in the Czech Republic for 8 years. He has no fixed home as I live in a studio apartment and there's no room. Thankfully, his half sister (who has 3 kids)...

    Donald Trump

"My boy?".....good grief, my opinions on Trump are well documented on here. She was hopeless, whether you like me saying that or not. And blacks also voted for Trump. Are they racist too, or just misogynistic? If the Democrats had put someone forward that was even half decent they would have...

    Donald Trump

Oh come on. She came across as totally out of her depth and comfort zone. I honestly believe she is on some kind of medication that effects her ability to put forward a straight answer. She just rambles and it got worse thoughout the campaign.

    Donald Trump

To be honest Vic I came on the thread yesterday because posters were discussing having to choose a "white straight man" to represent Democrats next time. And bemoaning the fact. And then suggesting that a better candidate be excluded if they are of a different race/ gender. How is that kind of...

    Donald Trump

I hate Trump too. However, I don't hate the people who voted for him. I agree...he and his ilk are a cancer. I just don't think that actually listening and debating with the "floating" voter is something that should be ignored. If you can't bring yourself to do that then fine. That's your...

    Donald Trump

We have been over this before, so I will just say one thing; when a country/electorate is divided then it is imperative that each side is listened to by the other. Even if each side thinks the other is "thick, moronic" or "smug, elitest." Somewhere in the middle is the truth, regardless of how...
