    Florian Wirtz

That is the sensible, routine take that will inevitably happen. Wirtz just needs to refuse to sign extensions. Leverkusen's bravado won't last long, I reckon.

    Rodrygo

There is a difference, I think, between those who play wide as a kind of an inverted winger and those who are "proper" wingers who play up and down the flank, whose role is that of a winger in attack & defence, & sometimes inverted. I would not classify Marmoush as a winger. (Not even sure if he...

    10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

    Makes sense.

    10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

Yeah, I read that post from Tolmie as well. So, where is Grealish going? Spurs, Newcastle, Villa? The media has been very quiet about him last few weeks.

It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

Reported that Pep wants Khusanov to go on loan as well.

    Nico Williams

Hope you are right. This guy/his agents have been a pain more than a year, constantly on the news, linking him to Barca, Arsenal, Chelsea, etc. The report now comes out that Barca will not sign him, & I suspect Arsenal are also reluctant to agree to such a huge wage demand. So now we are their...

    Destiny Udogie

It's a puzzle why we are supposedly looking at him. He's become a liability at Spurs who are rumoured to go after Palace's Mitchell to replace him already. As often the case with Italian players, he's struggled in the PL.

    Morgan Gibbs-White

Strange, you think of Wirtz as a replacement for Grealish who plays as a wide player for us?

    Florian Wirtz

Exactly. No established elite player would look at City as his preferred destination until we are formally cleared of all charges. In the case of Wirtz vs City it sounds like a part of the same old transfer fantasy tales. ( I seem to recall Tolmie saying that we had not shown interest in him.)

United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I agree with you on the need of quality recruitments. I got annoyed by our slowing of the flow of the play, for example, by Doku, who repeatedly spent almost 10 seconds standing still against a defender, attempting to do one on one, and then passing the ball backward. His posturing is so pointless.

United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

A comparison with Barca e.g. is not really appropriate, is it? Most of those youngsters are products of the Barca system (DNA) and/or they all know how to fit into their La Liga/Barca system. You cannot just fill the squad with a full of inexperienced, developing young lads from other leagues...

    10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

I heard it is Spurs. Now that you mention it, all in all Newcastle are probably a better fit for him.

    47 | Phil Foden - 2024/25

None of them is a winger, but assigned to play out wide by the club.

    11 | Jeremy Doku - 2024/25

I don't think we should blame other players for his paucity of end products. However brilliantly one player can dribble fast, a match cannot be won by his single show pony act. I'm sure the team practise various attacking options during training, but the player has to create situations/chances...

    11 | Jeremy Doku - 2024/25

I'm not sure if Doku could develop into a player who could start in their team. Their wingers' tasks are not single-mindedly going forward as dribblers/ball carriers, are they? They create chances for others and attempt to score goals by themselves. But more notably, both wingers are heavily...

    10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

There might be a chance if Rashford does not make a permanent move to Villa. But, Stan Collymore sounds adamant that Emery would not want Jack. Regarding his wages, wherever he goes, he would probably have to agree to a reduction in his salary.

It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

I don't find it strange at all. The agents of those players in the exit list must have been told some time ago. One can speculate KDB & the co should already have looked into options, but decided so far none is attractive enough to tempt him, hence he might have wanted to see if there was any...

Grealish tops the exit list. He will definitely leave this summer. In my view he should have left last summer.

    The Squad planning thread

Allegedly, Grealish tops the exit list. Very unlikely for him to stay beyond this season. Presumably his agents have already been working hard to find a new club for him.

It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

If he hasn't given up on the World Cup participation, I assume he'd like to find in the summer a new club where he can get regular starts. He can't afford to get imprisoned here if he wants to be in the England Squad. (As it stands, it's doubtful whether he gets selected for the qualifying...
