    Trams tonight

Don’t know about a signal failure last night. But I have noticed that there are always an abundance of trams terminating at Trafford Bar, late in the evening. My guess would be that trams that have been running on other lines and are heading back to the depot in Old Trafford for the night, run...

Kevin De Bruyne | Appreciation thread

Nothing more pathetic than geographical pedanticness. Altrincham is in Greater Manchester not Cheshire btw.

    Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

I highly doubt it. It’s a TNT show. I don’t think they’ve ever shown any incidents from any cup games previously.

    Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

He has been fast tacked through the system these last few years. A lot of people see him as potentially a referee destined for the very top of the profession.

City bus scheme for home games - bus tracking (P91)

I haven’t used the buses this season but I’ve been following this thread as I may do in the future. But I did want to say a huge thank you to Katie for keeping the forum regularly updated, even in live time. And also for clearly listening to feedback and acting on it. It makes such a...

    Trams tonight

It isn’t perfect but that really isn’t true is it? The vast majority are doubles on a match day. And you might occasionally have to wait 15 minutes but the average time between trams before or after a game is a lot less than that.

Kevin De Bruyne | Appreciation thread

Great night last night. Fantastic send off. Having only seen the back end of Colin Bell’s career when he was more or less done, I’m going to say the greatest player I’ve seen in a City shirt. The right time to go for me as well. Possibly if we had a young squad of dynamic young midfielders...

Sky Sports-screening pubs near Wembley for Fulham (a)

I usually get out of the area as quickly as possible. But I seem to remember last time I had a drink near the ground, that the police insist that all pubs in the vicinity stop serving an hour before kick off and don’t open again until an hour after full time. That was a while ago though.

    VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

The commentators clearly have some sort of insight into what the VAR is saying. Whether it’s an open mic. so they can listen to everything that’s been said in there, or some kind of limited info, sent when a decision is pending, I’m not sure. I’m inclined to think they can’t hear everything...

Oh Ok, thanks. It wasn’t even clickable to see what it was, even though it said ‘available’

    Metrolink to / from Etihad

I see the expected finish time of both the De Bryune farewell and the concert are exactly 10.30. That could be fun on the trams.

    London Underground charges

The maximum fare for one days travel in zones 1-6 is £16.30. So it shouldn’t matter how many times you did or didn’t tap out. It shouldn’t ever be more than that really. They do say give it 48 hours to all be worked out properly though, so I’d double check on Tuesday that they haven’t...

    TV Series

I have to disagree with this. They weren’t going back over old ground. They were filling in some huge gaps in the storyline that they’d left unanswered between the end of the first and the start of the second series. I thought it was a really good episode. Probably the best of the series so...

    Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

The VAR is undoubtedly ultimately responsible for the final recommendation. But to be fair, in a few of the cases where we’ve heard the audio, the AVARs haven’t been afraid to chirp up with advice. The Haaland handball at Tottenham sticks in my mind. The VAR repeatedly said that he couldn’t...

    VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

If you believe Howard Webb, which I’m aware many won’t, the Premier League has been lobbying FIFA for some time for them to lift their ban on live comms being broadcast. When that happens, and it’s inevitable it will sooner or later, I can’t see any reason why they couldn’t make the VAR feed...

    VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

There certainly isn’t anybody from any TV company ( officially ) in there. That would quite clearly be an ‘outside influence’ For most games there is a VAR, an AVAR and the guy who operates it. For international tournaments and some bigger European and domestic games like Cup Finals, they...

    VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

I’ve no idea if they sign NDAs. But for it to be routinely happening, every referee in England would be aware of it. Every linesman. Every VAR operator. Every AVAR. Every VAR operator. Everybody in any kind of senior position at the FA, the Premier League, the BBC, ITV, SKY Sports. TNT. Amazon...

    VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

No mate, I can’t prove that something didn’t happen. That would be impossible. What I can do is consider the likelihood that it happened. It is an absolute fundamental FIFA instruction that there must be no outside interference in the VAR booth. To routinely have English VARs ignoring that...
