No-one can argue with Pep's record. He's been the best of the best. But now he probably isn't.
His system is predictable and boring, his team selections in recent times are baffling, and his demeanour is frequently that of a man who has had enough.
The team is stale, the tactics are stale...
Square pegs / Round holes
Pep gets £100m Jack Grealish and sticks him out on the touchline, killing his natural game.
Pep has had Phil Foden for years and still hasn't worked out his best position.
There are more examples, but you get my drift.
Bellingham, Rice, Ronaldo, Messi, Wirtz, Lukaku, Alves... all wanted by City, none ever looked like opting for City. There will be more in the future.
We're not a big draw, even less so with 115 still hanging over us and Pep leaving.
I think we've got a hard core of about 35k to 40k fans, with another 5/10k who will cone back if and when the prices are 'right'. It's hard to guess... we've had a procession of various fanboys and tourists over the past 15 years or so!
Give Viana time. He'll prove his value when Pep leaves.
From a fan's point of view, there's nothing wrong with a mediocre season. We've had dozens of them and we keep coming back every week for more.
From the CFG point of view, finishing outside CL qualification places would probably be a financial disaster.
The main issue is 'are the club moving...
We could have been bankrolled by a consortium of Hitler, Mussolini, and Pol Pot and some of our happy clapping fans would still worship them.
Sycophants.
Elite / marquee signings rather than the Lidl bargains we've been picking up. Bergiristain had the same problems that Viana is experiencing.
Despite our success, we can't compete with Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid etc for some reason. It's either Pep going soon, or the unfinalised 115 charges.
Maybe, but top players / agents still seem to be opting for other clubs with no apparent need for relegation clauses...
115 may well be "cartel bullshit", but it's stilll not gone away. The sooner it's put to bed, one way or the other, the better.
MCFC no longer exists. It's just the CFG. CFG objectives for Manchester City don't need to coincide with what the fans want, and the owners don't need to be straight with anyone but the PL, UEFA etc.
Like I've said, lots of fans blinked and they missed it.
It ain't over till it's over. Prospective signings and agents will want certainty. We've still not seen anything positive or negative, we're just presuming that we've been cleared.
It's entirely possible that the PL has enough to be able to punish us quite severely via points deduction (rather...
Pep will leave City within two years. Players and agents obviously know this.
He's no longer an attraction for new players at City, just tourist fans getting a last look before he packs it in.
