Match Thread | Man City vs Liverpool Carabao (22/12/22)

Should have probably scored 5. Some really great chances wasted, but the build up has been very good. Kevin and Palmer have been exceptional, except for the kid’s wasted tap-in. We conceded a very poor goal. Some obvious rustiness defensively, but some good moments also. The only real...

    Mass starvation in Afghanistan

The Mujahideen and Al Qaeda were basically one and the same thing. They’ve subsequently rebranded themselves again. I guess American support for Al Qaeda in Syria was a difficult sell. The US has never had issue funding and supporting terrorists and extremist groups where their interests align.

$140 today, and still with an irrationally high PE ratio.

Motion - the country is completely broken

Any MP that voted for the invasion of Iraq has to share some of the responsibility. However, Blair deceived parliament and the public. It was ultimately his decision and his lies that resulted in the war. In democracies, the country as a whole shares collective responsibility.

Has anyone put their central heating on yet?

My parents’ 650m^2 self-build has a 24KW oil boiler and its more than powerful enough to heat the entire house and provide for a 500l water cylinder. The size of boiler you need depends on far more than just the size of the house.

Motion - the country is completely broken

What are you talking about? As I previously stated, this will be the first time that I will not vote for Labour.

Killing a million people is a very low bar.

Motion - the country is completely broken

You can judge the party by its MPs, and there are barely a handful that I have any confidence in whatsoever. They’re incompetent in opposition, so I’m not sure how you can expect anything different if they were to gain power. Blair remains still the worst PM in my lifetime by a very long...

Motion - the country is completely broken

Won’t make a difference in my case either way. I live in what is probably the safest Tory seat in the country. I’ll probably trash my ballot. The “opposition” seem to agree with the government on most important issues, or at least only disagree superficially. Two cheeks of the same backside.

Motion - the country is completely broken

I have never voted Tory and I certainly won’t be doing so at the next election. Unless there is a major change in Labour, starting with its leader, I won’t be voting Labour for the very first time. Both parties will lead the country to ruin. One will get us there slightly faster.

Motion - the country is completely broken

In a democracy, the people get they government they deserve. At the next election, the options available to you will be an incompetent Tory government or a grossly incompetent Tory-lite government. Meanwhile, the media will be telling you to celebrate the fact you have a “choice”, whilst China...

    The FTSE

Stocks can remain irrational for years. And although Tesla is a good company, it’s stock remains ridiculously overpriced unless you believe that it can grow at CAGR of 40% over the next decade. Even then, the expected return would still only be about 10%. The risk/reward ratio is stupid.

    Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Too many abysmal performances to win the game. No idea how Foden played the whole 90. Gundogan, Walker, Rodri, Cancelo, Foden and Mahrez (even for his short appearance) all dreadful. Disappointing because we could have easily won the game if one or two of those had put in an average performance.

    First goal is critical.

Despite the poor performance, we should have been 2 up. Some of the passing has been pretty dreadful though.

The only worse MP for the job would be Priti Patel, and that’s saying something.

    Gas & Electricity

The increases in the price of gas, in particular, are caused almost entirely by the rise in the wholesale price rather than profiteering. I agree that the energy companies and the distribution network are inherently monopolistic and should therefore be nationalised (just like the water companies...

    Videos of unbelievably thick Americans.

It’s a complete mystery why their country is in terminal decline. Seriously though, there are several geometric shapes with 4 sides.
