Thanks. He interviewed me last week but I didn't realise it was live yet. I'll check it out.

Important Anniversary - 35 Years Ago Today

I know we have a separate Women's Team thread but this is something that is about the wider club and its achievements. Today is the 35th anniversary of the first game played by Manchester City Ladies (now Women). This was against Oldham Athletic Ladies at Boundary Park. This photo is the...

Bell, Lee and Summerbee statue | Unveiled (pg19)

Tuesday is a match day and there are lots of things planned I understand. On the style... this will be different to the others hence a different world renowned sculptor. I think it probably seems more appropriate for the era they played in to have more of a traditional bronze style statue...

    Ex City Youth Players

I agree with both those points. If we're including SWP (who mostly came through the NFFC youth system before joining City at 17) I suppose Tommy Johnson should be included as he arrived at City at 17 and hadn't played for a professional team before then (though he did have time with local clubs...

King of the Kippax | Last ever edition (p 20)

It really is a major achievement and they are lovely people. As editors they were keen to ensure all contributions, even if they disagreed with the content, was published. That to me is perfect. They did a fanzine open to all and giving voice to many who had no opportunity to get their views out...

King of the Kippax | Last ever edition (p 20)

Give it a listen everyone. It gets a bit emotional. I was one of the lucky ones who had my words included in the montage thanking Sue & Dave. Thanks Emily for doing that too. I think it shows how significant KK and the fanzine movement was and it's really important to recognise their...

King of the Kippax | Last ever edition (p 20)

I messed up and missed sending in a contribution to the last KOTK (Sorry Dave & Sue!) so here's a piece I wrote about Dave & Sue's contribution a few years back (follow the link): https://gjfootballarchive.com/2023/11/14/king-of-the-kippax-end-of-an-era/ Before Blueprint, KOTK, EB/BTH, Main...

Chelsea (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I think it’s Grimsby 4 City 4 from Sept 1950: Of course yesterday’s wasn't the 1st 4-4 at Stamford Bridge between City & @ChelseaFC That came in a City title winning season: https://gjfootballarchive.com/2023/02/03/chelsea-4-manchester-city-4/...

    Hyde Rd Fire Rare Photo

Central actually had a very strong case and major support via the media too. They had the used of a prominent stadium capable of holding over 20,000 at that time and had several significant former footballing figures involved too, including Billy Meredith and the former Utd capt Charlie Roberts...

    Hyde Rd Fire Rare Photo

On this day in 1920 City’s Main Stand burned down but was this a stray firework, a discarded cig or terrorist activity and how did MUFC react to City’s request to play at OT instead (I think most Blues can guess the answer to that last one!)? Follow the link for a rare photo of the aftermath...

    MAINE ROAD CENTENARY SOUVENIR BOOKLET

I’d urge all Blues to get this. Like Dave & Sue, Noel has been an important person in MCFC fan history, giving us a voice. Please support this - you’ll have something good to read too!

King of the Kippax | Last ever edition (p 20)

When we had no voice Blueprint then KK then EB/BTH gave us one. It’s easy now to get our feelings known back then the efforts of Sue & Dave and the others made people listen to fans. They are an incredible and important part of MCFC and football history. The world will be a poorer place without KK.

MCFC talk of a ‘certain clique’ influencing the FA!

Yes, totally agree. Talked & written about this often. Every time the details are researched the more ridiculous it all gets.

MCFC talk of a ‘certain clique’ influencing the FA!

If they’d have created a League Cup then it may well have become the dominant cup competition too.

MCFC talk of a ‘certain clique’ influencing the FA!

There’s an article I posted to my website a short while ago which contains extraordinary criticism by City challenging the authority/interference of the FA and basically saying that the FA is antiquated and governs football poorly, saying there’s a clique etc. But this wasn’t written in recent...

    Francis Lee RIP

I've put a few thoughts down on today's funeral for Francis plus a selection of photos from his City career... Follow the link for the story and images (all free to read/see of course): https://gjfootballarchive.com/2023/10/19/francis-lees-funeral/ As so many have said there are plenty of...

    Francis Lee RIP

I want to add to all the tributes today by including here an interview I did with Francis back in 2010 (I hope there are no Franny windups in it!). This is one of many interviews I did with him over the decades and I want to include this one today as it was written up as a Q&A style piece with...
