    34 years on and it’s still 5-1

This is how it was reported in New York: https://gjfootballarchive.com/2023/09/23/a-manchester-derby-reported-in-ny/ Notice the comments about money. Always worth remembering Fergie had created the most expensive team ever assembled in Brirain at that time.

I was thinking on the way up a few years back. Absolutely not now and not on the way down.

    Breaking records/stats thread

I definitely think that would’ve been a good option a few years back. This week I was asked by someone preparing stats for NUFC’s return to Europe about City’s European record. It’s for a NUFC related publication/article and they’re trying to do comparisons between the English clubs (my guess...

Thanks for mentioning my website. I’ve been trying to develop it over the last three years to make it a repository for a lot of my writing. So at the moment there’s lots of free content that anyone can view and then there are other articles, interviews and books that are available to...

    Earliest City crowd song?

‘I wouldn’t leave my little wooden hut for you’. They sang No Place Like Home too apparently.

    City’s European Journey Starts Here….

Today (18 Sepetember) is the anniversary of City’s first ever European Cup tie. It didn’t go the way we wanted and I’m sure there’ll be lots of older Blues with memories of that night, but now we’re treble winners I think it’s okay to remember the start of it all. It may have been painful in...

Wealthy City Help Financially Struggling Oldham - China Report in 1933

They used to do that at Hyde Road at Benefit/Testimonial games too.

Wealthy City Help Financially Struggling Oldham - China Report in 1933

Not the first time City fans threw coins towards the pitch at Boundary Park but we’d best not talk about that.

    Who actually owns City?

Correct. The idea was that Khaldoon was simply going to come in, low key etc and if you notice who sits where they tried to have a gap between Khaldoon and Thaksin. They did not want an exhibition but Thaksin was determined to make it look like ‘I’ve brought this man in’.

    Who actually owns City?

I agree - on the muffin. You’re possibly right on the Villa stuff too. They would’ve looked at most clubs but the real contenders were LFC, NUFC, EFC, AFC and us. There’s lots been said in the papers (and elsewhere) about that time and the involvement of various people (much of it wrong or a...

    Who actually owns City?

I know he tried to use the toilet and it was full of people smoking. The chant went up: ‘Thaksin Shinawatra he pisses where he wants‘

    Who actually owns City?

A slight diversion but interesting story…. When I interviewed Eddie at his flat a few years back he told me about his match day ritual if he’s at home watching City on TV. He had a framed photo of Bernard Manning which he used to move and turn so that Bernard could watch City. i thought it was a...

    Who actually owns City?

That’s never been mentioned to me but it’s possible. I doubt they would’ve offered more than the overall package with City and as Petrusha mentioned Thaksin’s takeover had made it a relatively straightforward task which may not have been possible at Villa or the others. Having said that Thaksin...

    Who actually owns City?

    Totally agree.

    Who actually owns City?

He absolutely is and Khaldoon has said that too. The current owners are the current custodians, looking after it on behalf of us for future generations. They’ve not done a bad job either.
