Andy Burnham | 59th UK Prime Minister

Paid 33.5 for mine in October 1988, put 5k deposit down and my wife had a part time job earning around 4k pa so we made the criteria for a mortgage but it wasn’t easy. My new neighbours, the lad is an Alcohol and Drugs counsellor and his partner works for HMRC so I’d guess they will be earning...

The "which famous person died today" thread

Was in the White Lion in Delph for lunch yesterday which was a pub run by Sonny Ramadhim for many years, he was a West Indian team mate of Sir Garfield’s for a few years in the 50’s, Sonny only died 4 years ago at the age of 92, two great cricketers of that era, RIP Sir Garfield Sobers.

    UEFA Champions League 2026/27

Met him in 2023 on the way to Wembley, can’t remember how we found out he was Kyle’s Dad!

    UEFA Champions League 2026/27

No material advantage whatsoever, could rename Pot 1 to Pot 4, still play 2 random (Real Madrid) team’s from each pot. The fact of being the “better” team has no tangible benefit.

Andy Burnham | 59th UK Prime Minister

That old one, I bought my first house in 1988 at the age of 29 after working/saving hard for the 10% deposit. Not easy when my basic wage was 11k pa, no holidays for 6 years, bus for work, no luxuries, 6 day weeks, no pension contributions and when I finally got my mortgage my expenses meant I...

    Club introducing Facial ID?

Why? I use Face ID everyday through my iPhone for my bank account, AJ Bell account, and Aegon Pension, never had a problem so why would would I have a problem with it just to get in a football match?

    The Open

No but the greens were a lot firmer and more difficult for the later players.

    The Open

Swing oil before the first hole! Was on a golf trip at the weekend, one of our lads scored 2 stableford points in 18 holes, he’d had far too many before the golf, nicknamed Toothpick now!

    The Open

I’ve got in a bit of a golf rut last two years, was off 14.3 in May 2024, now 22.3, highest I’ve been in 37 years of playing golf, so frustrating, even my short game which I relied on is terrible at the moment. I’d kill for an 87!

    The Open

Our pro at Ashton Under Lyne Golf Club is running a sweep on the Open, chose a box then it’s drawn against a player, I picked box 115. Also in a comp, pick 3 golfers, must be over cumulative odds of 110/1, all 3 players must make the cut to win, lowest scores get in the money plus our local...

    England v Argentina - Wed 15th July, 20:00 | Semi-Final | World Cup 2026

Can’t stand Tuchel, he got to win the CL with the Chav’s aided by Rudiger’s assault on KDB which was a clear sending off, for me last night that was a bit of Karma, get fucked Tommy, you wanker.

    England v Argentina - Wed 15th July, 20:00 | Semi-Final | World Cup 2026

Thankfully that’s nearly the end of International football (in our media) for a few weeks until they resume the circus for nearly three weeks around the 22nd September, it’s so boring and I get utterly pissed off with no nothing “football fans” gushing about England when they don’t have the...

    England v Argentina - Wed 15th July, 20:00 | Semi-Final | World Cup 2026

Got Argentina in the sweep, minimum £150 winnings, happy days, Tuchel completely ballsed up, got what they deserved.

    16 | Rodri 2025/26

His contract says differently, you’re a bit naive if you think he wouldn’t have been a success anywhere else, he’d have ended up at another top club, probably Barca or Real and his career would have progressed from there. Only three options and it’s down to Rodri himself, loyalty doesn’t play...

    16 | Rodri 2025/26

Whatever happens he owes us nothing, plenty of criticism during his first season with us but he’s matured into one of the best ever midfielders I’ve seen in 60 years of watching football.

Your twenty favourite desert island discs

The big O didn’t make my list but I’ve got plenty of his music in my library and he’s probably got the purest voice of all time, died far too young.
