This has just happened to me. There are lots of videos on youtube which show how to take apart the ps3 to clean the lens. If this doesn't solve the problem then you can buy a replacement disc reader which is cheaper than buying a new ps3! There are a few places around Manchester that will fix it...

Someone posted a link to the update yesterday. It is in off topic on page 2. I updated my iPhone using it and my mate did his itouch with no problems. Just make sure you update your iTunes before you use it. It is worth doing if you have an itouch as it is free!
