Ever seen a City non-derby game played at Old Trafford?

I went there in the mid/late seventies to see us play Luton in a 2nd replay in the League Cup. Seem to remember their keeper, Milija Aleksic (later played for Spurs), had a blinder. Can't recall the score, but pretty sure we won. The crowd was small, with a lot of the ground closed. I stood...

My mate is thinking of creating a Man City band

Can't think of anything worse, apart from the piped chanting :) I remember Sheff Wed coming to Maine Rd in the late nineties and their band hardly stopped for 90 mins - drove me mad.

    Martin Samuel tells it again..

Another very good article that tells it like it is. If we can see through the hypocrisy of FFPR (its anything but fair), surely it won't get the backing it needs from those who would be adversely impacted. Its all about the bullying, established elite trying to protect their position, but the...

    Who remembers....

Embarrassing. Still makes me cringe, just thinking about it now.

    Do You Believe The Press?

No, its mostly sensationalist bollocks, not bought a paper in years.

    so what do we do?

Closing the Transfer Forum would be pointless, posters would just clog up other forumns with their rumours/claims. Better to keep it all in one place. I don't know who's ITK and who's not, but I enjoy reading the 'speculation', which is precisely how I treat it. WUMs (i.e. those who post...

It's quiet 10, no apologies! (continued)

Whether its Sinclair or not, its got the board going, and it looks like our dealings are about to take shape, which is great news. I think we should look at our signings once all the business is done. Judging one player in isolation isn't ideal. We can't sign all world beaters and Bobby's...

Dave Watson's bullet header v Ipswich, April 1977

Remember it well. I was in the Kippax corner, next to the North Stand, could usually grab a good view from there, being a vertically challenged teenager. Great team that, should have gone on to win the League. Wouldn't mind seeing Dave Watson and Vinnie as a central defensive pairing.

    RIP Jack Reyna (Claudios son)

Awful news, tragic to lose someone so young. I hope Claudio and his famly find strength in those around them at such a sad time. Rest well young fella, God Bless.

Question for the old uns that remember the last good times..

It was a huge shock to me when we went down in '83. Replacing Tony Book with the returning Big Mal was a disaster and we went on a downward spiral from then, despite reaching the Cup Final in '81. Having never seen us relegated before, I kind of thought we were invincible in that respect. I...

City player with the hardest shot

As a couple have mentioned, Dunnie and Tarnat could belt it, but I'd go for Kiddo (back in the day).

    Balotelli, Redknapp revisited

Good article and you make a very valid point about Redknapp's reaction after the game. Certain people within the game have their friends in the media who support/promote them, and Redknapp more than most, particularly with Sky and his daily appearance through his car window. Sky were quick to...

    Capello Index Ratings

Looks fairly accurate, nice to see Joleon at the top. A bit harsh on Wellbeck, I thought he played very well for someone so inexperienced, even more so because Young gave him no support. Apart from the pass to Milner, Young was a waste of a shirt and isn't cut out to play the role behind a...

A City Sale As A Kid That Broke Your Heart

As a couple of others have said, Gary Owen leaving for West Brom was a killer.

    Sentimental Substitutes

I think the boss does have a sentimental side to him. I remember him bringing on Chris Chantler (it was his birthday) away to Juventus a couple of years ago in a Europa game, certainly wasn't tactical given his experience and it was so late in the game, don't think he even touched the ball but...

    Mike Dean

We shouldn't be relying on refs to see this through, but we don't want one who will screw us over either. Mike Dean is the best around - won't do us any favours, but is usually entirely fair and not afraid to give big decisions.

    Changes at Cardiff?

I seem to remember Sam Hammam, when he was at Cardiff, proposing a change to red to drum up Welsh patriotism, but there was a fans backlash and he backed down.

City Vs QPR The Final Game Pre match Thread

Re: the "i'm absolutely bricking myself" thread. For the derby and Newcastle, I somehow managed to get my mind off the upcoming games until it got closer to the day. This week, its impossible, I can think of nothing else. Logic tells me that with our squad versus QPRs, with our home record...
