I think this will be overlooked (perhaps rightly because we were very poor) but we have effectively gotten really unlucky to end up in that situation. It was like winning the goals conceded lottery. The four shots Fulham scored from had a combined xG of 0.26 which is absolutely bizarre - that...

    10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

If I'm honest, I'm not sure we would've won that game if he wasn't on the pitch for the last ten minutes. Not to mention he would've finished them off if Gvardiol didn't try to pass. When the entire team was panicking he was the only one engaging his actual brain.

The great irony is... Fulham... actually really hard to beat at Craven Cottage. Only Arsenal have beaten them there this season... not many will get away with any points at all. So in that respect, it's a cracking little 3 points gained.

Cherki dragged us over the line kicking and screaming there. Looked like the only one with any sense of composure.

That’s three goals in a row where we’re so fucking deep that they just put 4 players on the edge of the box and wait for it to roll out to them. Absolutely bizarre.

There needs to be some kind of paranormal investigation into average players scoring absolute screamers against us.

Will we win the league this season?

In terms of actual results, we have improved massively on last year - it’s not even remotely up for debate. If you look at the 13 fixtures we’ve played so far this season - we only got 15 points from those last year. This year we’re on 25. Last year we lost to United, got smashed by Liverpool...

Will we win the league this season?

Arsenal play Villa away next weekend... I dare say we have the better run of fixtures up to the end of the calendar year. Every chance for us to make up ground between now and then. Palace away is arguably our toughest fixture (and that will be tough).

Yes - for the record I was agreeing with you - VAR should have been involved in both instances.

I think the Foden one is clearly a foul - but there's a massive difference between two feet making contact in the air because somebody has mistimed it and going in on an ankle that's weight-bearing near the ground like Caicedo did. I don't think the two tackles are really that similar - though...

Ridiculous. Arsenal were posing zero threat to Chelsea, but once again Chelsea's own worst enemy is themselves. Constantly getting in their own way.

Caicedo... what an idiot. He's getting sent off for that.

That is absolutely crazy from Paqueta. Hate to give credit where credit is due, but fair play to the ref, wish more would do that.

In 2012 Palermo had the opportunity to do the funniest thing when they were playing AC Milan and had Milan Milanovic on the bench. They lost 4-0 which I think is totally deserved for not bringing him on.

Fuck me. Carragher said that's the best 45 minutes Wirtz has had in a Liverpool shirt. How fucking bad has he been?

Didn't West Ham quite famously beat Arsenal away last season and the season before that?

Reminds me of when Wolfgang Wolf was the manager of Wolfsburg. Nominative determinism.
