    Learning to play Chess

Yesterday I picked up a cheap toy boxed chess set and board from a charity shop in Morecambe for £2.95. To be honest, I don't know why I bought it, because I haven't got a clue how to play, and it has always seemed too complicated, although I am reasonable at draughts. Anyhow, working on the...

Have you ever smoked a pipe?

I tried it once in the early 70's. I always fancied a briar pipe so I could look like Sherlock Holmes, so I was out with some mates in Manchester City centre and I passed a tobacconist's shop who had a display in the window. I went in and explained I was a beginner, and didn't know the first...

    The Fred Dibnah question

If the average person was asked to know the name of any steeplejack they would probably say Fred Dibnah. Another example:- Motorcycle racer Barry Sheene So:- The idea is name ONE person that most people would associate with their profession. Remember, ONE name only.

The interior of Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page's Tower House

Jimmy Page owns at least three lovely homes, but this one is rather special inside. The house next door used to be owned by his friend Michael Winner, but is now owned by Robbie Williams, with whom he has had several run ins with.

Creepy or unusual things that have happened to you.

Several years ago I was on a plane back from Malta and I was sat next to a smart lady in her mid thirties, We exchanged some small talk, and she told me she was from Accrington, but lived in Malta as she had married a Maltese man who owned a sports shop on the island. She was travelling back...
