The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

The venue is nice and some nice bars about 10 mins walk away in the old town. Saw Super Furry Animals there few years back

Was that the Static gallery one? I went one of the nights and saw the Lotus Eaters the next night. Paul's book is a great read

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

Not seen the band on this tour yet but seen Mick do an intimate gig at Heavenly Social in London. Top of his game now but Loophole for me is musically good but lyrics let it down in my mind.

My ex sent me it as she lives there still. Nice venue and line up. Coral should be headlining for me mind

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

There was an article in a music magazine couple of years back - described him as living in a blacked out flat and sending his manager out for food and alcohol. Painted a very bleak picture at the time and I know on the recent tour he travelled separately from most of the band - though nothing...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

Ocean Rain is a great album definitely in my top 20 albums of all time. Went backstage with them few years back and Mac was the only one who never engaged. Saw them more recently in Bournemouth and his voice was poor to say least. When Pete died I don't think they were ever the same band. Peaked...

    Bournemouth Thread

The town centre was decimated by the closure of the big department stores that were there. The council also seem a big problem and appear unable to stop the decay of the area. Sad as I think Dorset is one of the nicest areas in the country. Westbourne and Southbourne both prove that local shops...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

Saw the charlatans last year for first time ever and was impressed by the quality and consistency of most of their songs. Liked 'my beautiful friend' especially which is off that album so I'll give this one a listen too

    Bournemouth Thread

I live in Southbourne or SoBo as the locals like to call it? Never lived anywhere with so many roadworks - the town centre can resemble Venice. But the fans generally appear quite loyal, and I think they genuinely care for their team. It's a beautiful area and people make far too much of the...

    The 'M' Word

Not sure if the same song but I remember an Ian Dury song using a similar term.

    The 'M' Word

As someone who works for a charity who look after disabled adults primarily , their name could be considered by some to be ironic. They continue with the name as it continues to generate donations and generally good publicity

Premier League Games 2/3/4 Nov 2024

I live in Bournemouth now so took just under an hour by car. Felt sorry for mates who had travelled down - our last 3 away games will be Ipswich, Southampton and West Ham next week.

Premier League Games 2/3/4 Nov 2024

Had the misfortune to go that game yesterday. Two very poor teams but surprisingly the game was end to end and relatively entertaining ( more due to comical play than tactics or skills) Dyche has not got a clue, but with no one in charge at the club there's possibly no one capable to sack him...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

The album after this one ( figure 8) was the one that brought him to my recognition. I remember one of the tracks was on a soundtrack of a film I'd watched. Lyrically quite dark at times but could craft a tune for sure. Sadly took his own life and appeared a history of sexual abuse towards him...
