Real Madrid post match post mortem

Similar to the Arsenal game I think. Both Arsenal and Real Madrid packed the penalty area and were clever enough to just block rather than make tackles. In both games we had a few good chances but neither keeper needed to be brilliant, just steady. Pep needs to come up with a tactic to create...

    Set Pieces

On penalties: Most players struggle with the responsibility and many, in shoot outs, place it so safely on target that if the goalkeeper goes the right way then he easily saves (Kovacic and Modric penalties last night). I'd take the responsibility out of their hands and the manager tells them...

How's your mood after the RM game?

I've seen us win everything I've wanted to win. I will die happy (not just yet though).

Real Madrid post match post mortem

The players gave their all which is all anyone can ask. Over the two legs we were the better side but perhaps lacking with creating cast iron chances.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Good response. I think in City's case that the owners have spent what £1.5 billion? but the club(business) is now valued at £5 billion. That is not spending that is investing. Without that investment then you will get stagnation and no improvement.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Great post. I think similar, professional football is basically buying and selling the best players you can, putting them in your shirts and going to 'war'. It's been that way since the maximum wage was abolished and the big city teams took over because the 'town' clubs could never compete...

    Real Madrid (H) - Wed 17th April, 20:00 | CL | Pre-Match Thread

Nervous. This is going to be tough. Real Madrid are built to counter attack, City are built to be counter attacked. That said, Real Madrid don't like defending and they will need to defend very well tonight. The crowd is very important but we tend to be very loud in these games. Bottom line for...

    The Labour Party

It does seem incredibly petty but that's exactly where we are with politics, activists and influencers trying to be 'players'. I was not a great lover of Jeremy Corbyn but at least he tried to keep things about issues rather than individuals.

    Atmosphere - 2023/24

The away support was absolutely superb. Usually is. Well done everyone.

    Arsenal (H) - Sun 31st Mar, 16:30 | PL | Pre-Match Thread

A lot of people (not us obviously) wanting this to be an 'end of era', 'falling off perch' type game. Arsenal do appear to very, very highly motivated. We need to bring the noise today.

    Who else is Wembleyed out?

I know it was a dump but I preferred the old Wembley. Just the history. That said, I am not going to turn down any chance to go to Wembley in a competitive match (don't do the Charity Shield). As most people, also think that playing semi finals there totally deflates Wembley's specialness.

Has social media made the UK more right wing?

Just to be clear on this I just put something like 'who has killed the most people in history' into google. I posted the response I got. I suspected Stalin was top but was proven wrong. My point is that both right and left are very, very similar in their brutality when challenged. For the...

Has social media made the UK more right wing?

I agree with your point and I am fully onboard with democracy but many, many people are not interested in other people's choices and want to demonise them for those choices. i.e Daily Mail readers! Now many people call Daily Mail readers because they see them as demonising certain sectors. So...

    Poverty in UK

As far as I can see no country has ever solved poverty so there is no template to follow. It's also very, very difficult to get true like for like comparisons between countries so it's really difficult to say country A is better than country B so we should follow what country A is doing. I've...

Has social media made the UK more right wing?

I don't use Facebook or Twitter at all. The only forums I use are bluemoon, the Telegraph and the Guardian. All are biased and full of people who 'know' what is right. So if Facebook and Twitter are even worse count me out! Maybe the question 'Is being right wing, centre or left wing best?'...

    Car bump query

I feel your pain. All you want is for the insurance company to put you in the position you were before. That's what you paid for. My mate had similar to you, loved his car, absolutely loved it. A lady came out of a side street and hit him, she admitted liability immediately so no problem with...

    Israel-Palestine Conflict

I must admit that I thought everyone believed in a two state solution but I honestly do not think they do! Which is why I asked the question. Everyone keeps saying, it's Israels fault but again just to bring balance, from the internet "In 2017's revised Hamas charter, they claimed to accept the...

    Israel-Palestine Conflict

But surely Netanyahu will not be Prime Minister forever? That's how democracy work's. Are you conflating Netanyahu's views with those of all Israelis? Do you blame all Russians for Putin? All Americans for Trump? All Germans for Hitler? All Israelis for Netanyahu? I don't blindly defend them...
