    Defensive Midfield Targets/Options

The way I see it we have 3 options for cover/medium-term replacement for Ferna: 1) Sign someone from another Premier League club. 2) Sign someone from another European club. 3) Promote from within. If we start with option 1, I can see 4 players that could be under consideration. Each of them...

Basel (H) - Pre match thread.

Will Pep factor potential suspensions into his selection? Gundo and Ferna both one yellow away from a ban - would be silly to risk missing the QF in a tie that's in the bag. Looks like Fernandinho is not fit enough yet anyway, but it might be wise to keep Ilkay on the bench. I'd play Delph and...

    Bobby Duncan

I think he is still officially our player, just hasn't played a game all season (except internationals). He turns 17 in June so he can sign for whoever he likes then. Bit weird that he has basically written off a year of his career just to force a move, if that is indeed the case.

    Bobby Duncan

I agree that since we got good, not many young players have been given a chance (until this season). Don't think that is why Duncan is leaving though - he's a dyed in the wool Liverpudlian, but Liverpool's set up to age 16 is not as good as ours. Was always a bit surprising that Gerrard's cousin...

City v Liverpool UYL QF - 1pm, Wed 14th March

It's the 20th according to the UYL page on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017%E2%80%9318_UEFA_Youth_League#Knockout_phase Next round will be tasty if we get through!

    EDS/Youth loans 2016/17

Our top 5 loaned out players of 2016/17 (a subjective view, not including any of the ex-first team players we couldn't sell i.e. Nasri, Bony etc): 1. Enes Unal 2. Patrick Roberts 3. Aaron Mooy (not EDS, I know) 4. Manu Garcia 5. James Horsfield (who would have thought two years ago he would look...

    Brandon Barker

NAC are in the playoffs, so could still get promoted to the Eredivisie. I agree Ambrose is better than the Dutch second tier.

u21 Premier League rebranded to u23 "Premier League 2"

Thanks. Bit of a shame. Wonder why Chelsea think they can handle it though?

u21 Premier League rebranded to u23 "Premier League 2"

I can't create posts, but wanted to know what people think about the decision not to enter the EFL Trophy? For me it makes no sense - we complain that young players don't get enough man football and then when there is an opportunity to do that as a team we turn it down. I don't get it.

    Sinan Bytyqi

Yeah, he looked a major talent before his injury but others are coming through stronger and faster from the younger age groups. He's a German speaker so he should acclimatise quickly to the Bundesliga. Eintracht only just avoided relegation, so he should be able to break into the team without...

    Ex City Youth Players

Thanks for filling out the list. Didn't realise Hennessey had been a trainee for us.

    Ex City Youth Players

I was looking through the squads for Euro 2016 and I reckon there are five City academy graduates playing in the tournament: Glenn Whelan (RoI); Fredi Veseli (Albani); Robert Mak and Vladi Weiss (Slovakia): and John Guidetti (Sweden) - also Dedryck Boyata was in the Belgium squad till he got...

"Informal, less organised club" according to Boateng

Yeah, probably a quote from years ago. And so what? Too many flappers out there...

NAC Breda want 4 players next season.

NAC lost the playoff to Willem II - unfortunately they will be staying in the second tier. No chance they would get a Byrne or Celina next season now, but some of the lads who haven't got any experience of man football would still benefit from a season in the Eerste Divisie. Hopefully a...

    Brahim Diaz

Messi played regularly for Barcelona B at the equivalent age to Brahim next season (2004/5 season); he only had 77 minutes for the first team that seasom (all as a sub). It was after he turned 18 that he became a first-team regular. Makes sense to ease Brahim in too. I remember watching Patrick...

NAC Breda want 4 players next season.

NAC won 2-0 last night - through to the playoff final. Enes Unal got a red card 6 minutes after he came on as a sub!

    New York City FC

Team looked a bit better against DC United. I thought Khiry Shelton played well - he cut in off the wing for the first goal exactly like Villa and Henry used to do for Barcelona. I notice Poku was nowhere to be seen. Is he injured, or has he been dropped? He looked good going forward in a poor...

NAC Breda want 4 players next season.

That would be the Manu Garcia (aged 18 years, 4 months) who played 90 minutes for the EDS and made one of the goals in our 2-0 win over Liverpool last Friday. He certainly will play for our first team under Guardiola. Aleix Garcia will too.

    Jack Byrne

Personally I think Byrne should take Delph's place in the squad (he can pass and shoot and he's got loads of attitude - I think Pep will like him). If we send him on loan again a promoted Girona would be great, but Spanish second tier not so much. I'd rather see him to go to NYCFC than spend a...

NAC Breda want 4 players next season.

If NAC don't get promoted I doubt we'll be sending them anyone as good as those 4 mentioned. If they do go up to the Eredivisie it could be a good move for the English lads; I agree that Bersant might get more out of playing in a stronger league, but he would fit in well with the technical...
