    The Boxing thread

Did they not give Fury a dressing room? He seemed to be getting undressed in the ring.

    Bands In Small Venues

I can’t say for certain but I’m 99% sure I saw the Ting Tings at Clynes Wine Bar in Hulme, not long before their breakthrough hit. The whole pub could only fit in about 30 people and it was about half full at best. Not before they were famous but I took a girl I was knocking about with to see...

You can’t do that. City are charging the minimum price they’re allowed to do under the rules of the competition.

    Rule changes 2024/25

The six seconds officially start from the moment the goalkeeper has the ball under control by using his hands. I’ve mentioned this elsewhere but FIFA are currently trialling a revised law on this. The time the goalkeeper is allowed is increased to eight seconds. But it’s to be strictly...

    VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

That would depend on what the referee told the VAR. If he’d told him he saw the ball touch the hand but didn’t think it was a penalty, the VAR would have to decide he’d made an obvious error to recommend a review. Which he’d have been highly unlikely to do in this case. What’s far more likely...

    VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

I don’t know the exact ins and outs but I don’t recall reading that making the ground compliant with VAR was a particularly huge issue. Just bringing it up to Premier League standards in general.

    FA Cup R3 | Salford City (H) | Sat 11 Jan 1745

No, not for Salford. Or Brugge for that matter. But for the the ‘vast majority’ of matches.

It isn’t bullshit. For the vast majority of games, it is one member one ticket.

Their sentences won’t be ‘up’ in 33 and 40 years. That’s the absolute minimum length of time they’ll serve. It’s rare that any life sentence prisoners are released bang on the expiry of their minimum term. And notorious child murderers are often never released, even without a whole life order.

    SPOTY 2024

Going right back to the first ever winner, athletics provides far and away the most winners of this award. More than double the second placed sport for numbers of winners in fact.

    SPOTY 2024

Spoty is only still on so the advanced Outrage Bingo player has something to get upset about between… The bastard are cancelling Christmas again, and…Global Warming? It’s fucking freezing here in January.

    SPOTY 2024

It was moved in 2022 so it didn’t clash with the World Cup and they’ve kept it midweek since. The consensus seems to be that they can attract more stars to attend than at a weekend.

I imagine they’ll make do as best they can.

    VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

No, they’ve stated that if any lower league clubs gets drawn at home in the 5th and 6th rounds, they’ll make the ground VAR compatible especially for the occasion(s)

    Seat Counters - 2024/25

Both the BBC and ITV showed live league games from ‘83 onwards. I think one channel was Friday nights and the other Sunday afternoons. It wasn’t every week. But regular enough.

    Seat Counters - 2024/25

We weren’t involved much because we were shit. But ITV had some pretty fan unfriendly kick offs in the 80s. Friday nights and early Sundays.

    Seat Counters - 2024/25

I agree with you. But at the same time, I have to acknowledge that if City weren’t playing on Boxing Day, I’d be buzzing at the prospect of being able to watch Premier League football on the TV, non stop between 12.30 & 10 pm.
