Would you keep it?

I would, without a moments hesitation.

This woman was quite clever. Either intentionally or by chance. By putting 40K in a savings account and not blowing the lot, was probably the difference between the CS she got and a jail sentence.

If she was a politician we would be told by the prime minister to forget about it and the woman would get away with it.

She's a thief, and it's not even as though she needed the money. She spent it on designer clothes and shoes.
Lock the woman up.

I'd keep it all in my bank for a year and then blow it if they hadn't noticed by then.

Lock the woman up.

Nobody is disputing she is a thief.

That's not the question.

Out of all the people I know, I can think of maybe two who might not keep it.

Probably the best thing to do, assuming you're going to keep it, would be to leave it untouched for a while. Then if it is detected, you won't have broken the law.

I personally would draw the lot out at the earliest opportunity and deal with any consequences later.

On a much smaller scale, many years ago I got a payment of £2,650 from the WFTC. I also still received my regular payments so I knew it was a mistake and said nothing. 12 months later they realised their mistake and knocked it off that years award. I appealed that, and won!

My brethren..

Consequences though? You wouldn't be at all bothered whilst you're off your face or, having seen what a difference you could make for your kids

-- Sun Apr 06, 2014 5:31 pm --

''Any consequences'', AKA prison.

It was a lengthy battle. Had to write to the head of their services in Preston. They eventually said it would be acceptable to think i wouldn't have realised it was an error. Fuck knows what we spent it on.
