You live at the airport?
Yep. T3

Hope you don't smoke.

I've been through it PLENTY of times over the past three decades & it's inefficient & a total pain in the arse (and yes, I USED to live in Manchester too)

Why on earth do we need the Chinese to fund an £800m development?
Surely a British company could fund and profit from it rather than it going overseas?

British companies don't tend do the brown envelopes backhanders mate. Having worked for a company that dealt with Chinese it was customary to grease the palms of commerce shall we say. Which usually meant taking out the sales guys for a slap up, and then over to the casino where the brown envelopes were handed out then a trip to the titty bar and trip to the knocker to round the evening off.

It's to create that bit at the bottom half of the picture. A kind of business park is already there, but I think this is just going to expand it.

If you look on Google Maps:
<a class="postlink" href="https://maps.google.com/maps?q=manchester+airport&hl=en&ll=53.366354,-2.274599&spn=0.018002,0.032144&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=48.555061,65.830078&hq=manchester+airport&t=h&z=15" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">https://maps.google.com/maps?q=manchest ... t&t=h&z=15</a>

It's that bit of green area to the north of the terminals.
Yep, literally right in front of my house. I kid you not. :O(

Manchester Airport needs every single penny of the proposed £800m spent on it and ASAP.
When compared to the likes of Zurich, Stuttgart, Schipol etc it is a toy town of an airport.
It is an embarrassment to the City of Manchester.

^^^ this!

when I come through it I cannot believe it's won awards (although I think they're relative to other airports in the UK) as it's one of the most disorganised and difficult places to get through; CDG consistently gets a bad rap from international polls but I'd much prefer to go through Paris than Manchester, which is diabolical.
I've been through manchester airport hundreds of times over the last thirty years and have rarely had a problem. If there has been one, it's usually a long wait for luggage.

I've been through CDG in Paris about a couple of dozen times and nearly always had problems - lost luggage, delays, difficulties transferring between terminals etc etc., although I do like the bouncy escalator/walkways in terminal one.

There's loads of airports a lot worse than Manchester.

A guy I know, an ex mayor of Tameside who sits on the Airport committee told me the Abu Dhabi government had twice tried to buy Manchester airport and the money they were offering was beyond belief.

Let's say it was 5 billion. Why not spend that on giving our economy a boost and lessening the pain of the public sector cuts for a few years??
