Over 31 league matches , we have averaged just over 1.2 points per game.

This puts us on course to finish the season with 46 or 47 points.

If you look at how we have performed month by month throughout the season, we had a definite slump in Oct, Nov & Dec averaging less than 1.0 point per game. Since then we have picked up slightly, averaging nearly 1.5 points in the 11 games played this year. If we keep that up, we will actually achieve 48 or 49 points.

There are enough discussions going on about where we might finish the season in terms of league position. But I thought it might be interesting to look at the actual data seperately from all the opinion.

not really that helpful if you consider the opponents we face are easier on the run in and should bump up the averages, so could end up averaging 2 per game and reach 50+ .

They are the same opponents we have already played to get what we have now

without Home and away taken into account or injuries or January signings for either side or who the Ref is or If they have any other priorities around the time of our fixture.

Exactly, all those things are 'unknowns' , but over the course of season they tend to balance out. We have been unlucky in some games and very lucky in others. I think that the points toal over 30 plus games pretty much tells you our level for the season. We are on course for 46 - 49 points.

Mammutly, no matter how you dress it up it is impossible to predict the future. ;o)

If you had done the same thing with Fulham last season, at this stage of the season they would be nailed on to go down but they hit a great run of form and stayed up.

We need to win all our home games and im sure we will pick up something from an away game or two and i thinkg we might just have enough to finish 7th.
