I thought he was excellent in the last 10 mins but a bit on the edge of the game before that. Doesn’t seem to be allowed to take risks and hogs the touchline a lot. Obviously following orders. Once the shackles were off at the end he looked very dangerous.
Showed more attacking intent against the Geordies instead of looking for the "safe" ball and was a big part of the victory not many better sights in football than watching Jack running at defenders , we just need more of it.
He played safe in the 1st half but executed his role to attract defenders to make more space for the teammates in the middle while hugging the touch line well. And in the 2nd half he had more freedom to roam and showed some of his ability. I think that this is what Pep asks from him - be a squad player when needed and grab the chance when it comes.
Played just as well today as he has all season. Kept the ball well, attracted Newcastle defenders towards him and made space for others (see Gundogan for the first goal), and looked dangerous when the game opened up towards the end. The difference today was that one of our forwards finally buried a chance he laid on a plate for one of them, so people feel more comfortable admitting to themselves that he played well.
