He's not been BAD. Just unspectacular.
This absolutely nails it. He's playing a much more functional style of football with us; he has to operate as a key component in a well oiled engine. At Villa he was their undisputed showman, a circus act that dazzled around inferior talent: zero disrespect to Villa intended because they're starting to look a very good team.

I thought Jack was quietly brilliant today, should have had an assist and forced two good saves from Kepa.

Today was a taster, I'm certain he'll become one of our best attackers.

that's it, functional. Doubt anyone watched Villa enough to see more than the stylish moments.

That said, should have scored today and it's scoring that kind of goal in a big game that a) boosts his confidence and b) gets fans onside.

He's still familiarizing himself in our system. Once he gets comfortable, watch out. He will be pulling strings before long. An instinctual playmaker with tremendous ball carrying ability. I have all the faith in Jack.

Gobsmacked that people are concerned. I dont think one player has totally hit the ground running in there first season under pep. In fact the whole team struggled in his first season.

so many people thick as shite on here.

when has pep NOT improved a player in time? He even improved delph!!

ive got all night …
But why can’t we comment on his bang average to below par form now?

Why do we all have to wait 12 months before we’re allowed to even pass comment on whether he’s been worth signing or not thus far?

You do realise most posters on here laying down this idea are the same laughing their bollocks off at Sancho et al failing at other clubs months into their tenure?

And I still don’t understand what’s so wrong with some to expect, actually, for once we get a handful of class games in Pep’s first year as a signing. At 26, I’d expect it.
