10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

Poor going forward tonight. One good opportunity for Savinho that should have been finished but that was it and we played the majority of the game predominantly on the right with him seeing loads of the ball. Needed more.

Got to show some urgency in certain situations. Spending 30 seconds of injury time twisting 30 yards from goal before a nothing ball into doku who had no option but to go straight back isnt what you need when you've got 3 minutes to win the game.

Thought he put in a decent shift defensively tonight, noticeable improvement in that regard, still plenty of work to do on that though, he does slack quite a bit.

Some excellent play by Cherki and his killer passes deserved goals. His passing around the penalty area is just brilliant.

Players like Cherki are allowed to slack. Its what makes them special.
Dont agree with that, slacking is what makes special players, "could have been's". Pep wont allow him to slack, kdb wasn't allow to slack, David Silva wasn't, they worked their arses off as much as anybody and that's why they're legendary players that won what they did. He'll get up to speed in that department before long.

But then slide Rejinders in with a beautiful, potentially trademark 2 footed slide pass (where he dribbled with left and passed with right).

Looked like he was told to watch Messi tapes and ended up watching only last year of PSG Messi by walking for the whole of the first half.

Then still makes a couple of wonderful passes.

Some really sharp passing from him, one of the few to try and succeed in breaking Sunderland down just a shame those around him. Great ball for Savinhos chance and it was him who laid in Reijnders at the end wasn't it?

Tough away game for him to shine in throughout but thought he did as much as anyone to try and break them down.

He's a victim of being the most comfortable on ball forward player since Silva & Nasri whilst also being the most creative player in the squad.
So he's asked to both dictate the game(more touches than everyone except Nunes) and be the creative spark from outwide.

No-one in the box except Billy Backpost. Silva constantly going out wide and Foden hovering about the edge. It was too predictable.
Reijnders willingness to get in the box and attack balls really compliments having Cherki outwide.
We need a 2nd player in there to create the chaos, Gvardiol was doing it(rest of team could take some notes from his performance). Tijani does it.
Semenyo will be a great addition in that respect too. He would also allow Cherki to be played more centrally with him coming off the right instead, Rayan spamming through balls and Rodri back with the little dinks over the defence.
We'll be there.

I like him, but I'm struggling to see what most in here are raving about. A bunch of crosses to no one or right at the keeper. Some good defensive work, as I mentioned after the match, though.
Can you not see that Cherki is the best player in the premier league.

I don't think the league has ever seen this level of talent before.

Absolutely this ^

He was fuming about Sav, Foden, Erling, Bernardo who had zero productivity.

Cherki was running the show nearly alone - only Rodri and Josko tried to win 3 points later on.

Sorry to say, but Erling played like a donkey and Phil fell back to zero confidence and aggressive play.

Home matches should help now. Tough schedule.

I think he was very much wasted on the right. While Bernardo was on the pitch I expected us to move him to right and play Cherki firmly in the middle where he could influence the game a lot better.

Maybe Haaland is the one with bad movement by always running away from the crosses. Did that ever cross your mind? He had a good game and could’ve easily end up with 2 assists once again
