What were you doing on Monday 1st September 2008 when you found out we'd been bought by an Abu Dhabi Sheikh?
I was on holiday in Cornwall - in fact I'd just eaten an early evening Meal at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow and was walking along the front when I heard two blokes talking about it.
I quickly found a pub with Sky and watched the rolling news.
My flabber was well and truely ghasted.

I was in the process of emigrating to Saudi Arabia. I found out when I got to the company villa turned the tv on and saw a banner at the top of the screen saying Man City had signed Robinho. I spent the next hour walking round riyadh looking for a pay phone to find out what the hell was going on.

I then spent the night wondering if moving to Saudi arabia was still a good idea - or if I should go back home.

Pretty sure it was the 1st September, mate.
 
Wasn’t a Saturday think it was Monday 1st , saw a newspaper in a petrol station early doors reporting the rumour , treated it with the usual disdain but as the day progressed realised that maybe just maybe a god existed after all :)
 
Saw an article on ESPN and didnt check.
Yeah it must have been the Monday. I couldn't afford Rick Steins on a Saturday Night!
Come to think of it it must have been Tuesday as the Restaurant was closed on Monday evening. The whole thing must have passed me by...

Is the OP a middle aged bloke? I hear premature ejac celebration is a common problem amongst that particular demographic.
