10th Anniversary. What were you doing when you found out?

On my way back from a football meeting with my rag mate I couldn't believe what I was hearing on the radio he was his usual rag self my mate "don't mean nothing u won't attract players u will still be shit won't over take us" as he went whiter and whiter with the oh shit look in his face will never go away.
 
It was my anniversary. I saw a bit on Sky Sports News but it hardly registered with them. I headed out for the day with Mrs Taleofbluehalves for a walk and couldn’t believe we were in for Berbatov by the time I got back. I had a nice romantic evening watching Sky Sports News!
 
It was my first day at college after leaving school a few months before. A bumped into a few lads that I went to school with, and they mentioned about City trying to sign Berbatov. I was thinking no chance, City aren’t even worth £30m, they won’t be buying players at that figure. On the bus home, I logged on to bluemoon and I saw the thread about us being taken over. Spent the 30 minute journey chatting shite about City are going to be the next Chelsea to my mates, in a sort of joking way. Got home and watched SSN all night, Berbatov rejecting us, then our interest in Robinho, Chelsea interested in Robinho, City signed Robinho. It never sunk in how serious these guys from Abu Dhabi were until the second we signed Robinho. Couldn’t believe it.


Is there anyone on here that knew or knows somebody who possibly knew about the takeover in the days/weeks/months before? I don’t think I’ve ever read that someone did.
 
I got home from work and put Sky Sports News on to see the latest on transfer deadline day.

There was a yellow banner running at the bottom of the page “Tottenham have agreed a fee of £28 million for Dimitar Burbotov from Manchester City” stupid tw*ts, I thought, they have wrote City instead of United!

Then another yellow banner “Manchester City have been bought by an Abu Dhabi consortium and are now the richest club in the world!”.

My head immediately span with thoughts of how we would rule football, signing the best players in the world and winning countless trophies along the way......

.....Then we signed Robinho!

Seriously though, even in those early wild dreams did I ever think Pep would be our manager and we would play the beautiful football we saw last season, breaking countless records in the Premiership along the way.

I was staying in a cottage in the lake district with the missus then 1 yr old son
No Sky
No internet
Just a shit signal and phone calls every 5 mins form my old man
Must've walked miles that night trying to keep a signal!
 
i was on holiday in centre parcs in longleat, similar to carlos above no net, getting texts from my mate with the goings on as it happened
 
I listened to talkSPORT a lot back then and I remember a few days later there were all sorts of fans from Arsenal to Everton to Newcastle to Spurs to Villa ringing up complaining that City were the ones to be taken over... Ian Wright was on drivetime at the time and he said something like; "hang on a minute, i'm already getting a bit sick of this, all you fans need to just get used to the idea, Man City fans have gone on holiday and put their towels on the sunbeds before any of you bothered to get out of bed and it's now their time in the sunshine!"
