10th Anniversary. What were you doing when you found out?

What were you doing on Monday 1st September 2008 when you found out we'd been bought by an Abu Dhabi Sheikh?
I was on holiday in Cornwall - in fact I'd just eaten an early evening Meal at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow and was walking along the front when I heard two blokes talking about it.
I quickly found a pub with Sky and watched the rolling news.
My flabber was well and truely ghasted.

Trying to stop our server melting.

Being told Sheikh Mansour would get bored, oil would run out, and City will always be a massive club.

Actually, I was the knob who was wearing a tea towel on his head, doing the Egyptian snake dance outside the Etihad, behind the Sky Sports News presenter, live on Sky Sports News. :-)

I don't remember the specific timeline of events, but I was at work at in the middle of Manchester....surrounded by many blues and reds.
The blues were buoyant about the takeover, the rags, typically ignorant.....until.... the rumours of Robinho came through.
The whole mood changed, the rags were furious, almost laughing it off like it couldn't happen....the blues totally cock a hoop.
At a similar time, the "hijack" of the Berbatov to United rumours started growing, whilst it didn't happen, it was piss funny......

...... and the first day of the rest of your lives began......

I was turning up at my ex's to pick my lad up and my best mate, a City fan from the East Midlands, rang me to say 'turn Sky Sports News on, we've just been taken over and we've put a bid in for Berbatov!' My ex had SSN and I spent the next couple of hours watching the tv in disbelief.

What a decade it's been. I've utterly loved virtually every moment. It might sound a little sad, but I like so much that goes with supporting a leading football club: having the best players, playing the most beautiful football; winning. It has been an absolute privilege to bear witness to such an incredible story, especially given what went before.

For me, it has been an absolute blast.

I was bed ridden with the flu. I just wanted to sleep but spent the entire day glued to skysports news from the comfort of my bed. Think I thought it was all a dream when I woke up the next day

After going to Midgetland and Sunderland, that Monday (it was a Monday wasn't it?) was good enough already. Don't think I heard about the takeover till teatime - then was glued to Sky Sports with the Robinho/Berbatov madness unfolding. It was a freaky day and I think of it regularly when I'm watching a game.

I was at work and got home to see SSN and people at eastlands bouncing around with their mams tea towels on their heads.

Was happy Frank had found a buyer as I knew he was financially up shit creek and so was the club and hopeful we would be comfortable league wise and stay solvent, it was more the weeks after when it settled down and you.could look into who bought us I was excited.
