Unfairly criticised IMO, seems a scapegoat already. The lad is in a new country at the WORLD champions, the jump in standard is huge. It would take something very special to stand out in that team every week, but he’s giving it a good go. Clearly can’t be effective for a full 90 at this point but as previously stated, the levels are way higher. Agree end product could be better but so could that of our other LW option (Grealish).

It's not just that for me. It's that he offers nothing off the ball either. All season he's never once made the run in behind the fullback or between the fullback/CB. He's too static.

I see your point, but no offence these kind of comments always baffle me. As fans we rarely know the game plan, but if he doesn’t do anything once, he is probably under instruction to play wide and Pep would no doubt be frustrated if he went against the instructions.

His off the ball seems ok, if some what limited.

The issue and it could be because he does not take dangerous positions as suggested, is I don’t feel he will score or assist (not that Grealish figures are great). But I do feel Doku has more licence to attack, so should have higher figures.

I would try him on the right as his crossing is very limited on the left side at least when he’s on the right he’ll have the byline option

The criticism feels over the top. He was double-marked, and I can't recall Ake making a single overlapping run. What's he expected to do?

I love Grealish and defend him more than most, but I don't know what he would have done out there, either.

I would have started Jack if fit yesterday.

I think Jack will feature more over the closing stages of the season.

I like Jack too, but my point was specifically related to yesterday. Ake is great, but teams know they don't have to worry about him from an attacking perspective, so they focus on defending Doku. Palmer and Gusto were both on him all match. My only criticism of Doku is I wish he'd make more runs off the ball to try and get in behind like Sterling/Sane did.

Doku was again the only lively player we had on view as the rest looked like they had lead in their boots. His effectiveness is limited because he is double marked. If there was better movement across the line ,defenders would be drawn away from him. We channelled everything down his side yesterday and the Chelsea full back had a very good game as did the defender helping him.
It seems like Doku is getting flak for not getting past 2 defenders then taking out 3 other defenders with a pinpoint pass to a stationary Haaland .
Doku is a 6/10 winger . City should have been buying 8/10.

I thought he played quite well. Gusto is a top 1v1 defender and then you had Palmer helping, being very disciplined tactically as well as Disasi sliding over from the centre to double up on Doku. There just wasn’t always the space for him to operate, and he still manages to beat his man a couple of times and put a couple of dangerous balls in.
