13 years since the Hamburg UEFA Cup tie

Tickets were a fiver if I remember right brought lots of fans in who'd been priced out and for one night only turned out a proper football crowd from yester year, I thought at the time never a pen but the shout from the Kippax I mean East stand convinced the ref it was. Best atmosphere generated in Etihad bar none.
From memory I think it caused a bit of a Shit storm as it was first come first served and loads of ST missed out. I may be wrong though.

the best atmosphere I’ve ever heard at the etihad. Cheap tickets meant the crowd was made up of lots of city fans who had been priced out and large groups of city fans were able to go together - you never see that now.

the closest atmosphere at home to this, for me, was spurs in the champions league and even then it’s not close to this one

No blaring cheesy pop music, just the crowd creating its own atmosphere. How it should be pre match

Great atmosphere that night and at the away leg when Stevie Ireland scored after about 30 seconds it was one of the craziest celebrations ever, bodies flying everywhere as others have said - shame that was as good as it got! Hamburg such a great city too.

Liverpool in 2019 was closest. The 2-1 to end their winning run and bring us closer to the top.

I swapped a bloody good retro city shirt for a hamburg van der vaart shirt after first leg walking through that huge park.... Then realised day after VDV had left them couple of seasons back.
