Mahrez was dropped for one game after a poor run of form lasting months. He comes straight back into the first team without any public statement and just carries on being Mahrez. During which time one of our best attacking players has sat on his arse for 6 consecutive games.
Meanwhile Stones came in for a ridiculously one sided game v Olympiacos and then from there retains his place in the next two league games plus Garcia makes two appearances. Meanwhile our best defender and league’s second best defender sits on his arse for four games.
There are obviously many on here that don’t see or don’t care about Pep’s double standards but I’ve seen all this before and it didn’t end well.
Guardiola indeed has to be careful. Sane should be good lesson for that. Players of this ilk don't take being benched very well. Its just the way it is + once player makes his mind up about going there is no going back.
Everyone knows, that he would have queue of clubs waiting to pick him up.
Players have the power, no getting away from that.
Also I thought it was extremely poor of Pep to play his favourite Catalan in Garcia who can't wait to get out of here ahead of Laporte against Porto.
Honestly I don't say this lightly but I cannot believe how pathetically grovelling you two are towards a few players.
They don't have a divine right to start games. They came here to play under the best manager in the world, to be part of the best squad and with that comes enormous benefits and certain requirements.
This isn't a democracy, and Pep Guardiola is the king, not your favourite player that you want to start every week. So if for whatever reason the players who signed up to that can no longer take it, then they can fuck off elsewhere.
Sané didn't play because he didn't follow the instructions of the manager. He could have grown up and listened to coaching he was getting from the best manager on the planet, but refused to, so he watched us win a quadruple in 2019 mostly from the bench and then slinked off back to Germany so he could be a bit part player for Bayern.
But there's a second part to how absurd the two of you are being, and that is you don't have a clue how Laporte is coping with the challenge being thrown down to him. Not a clue.
As far as you know he's doubling down, working harder in training, focusing on his game more and is ready to come back a better player.
But because you're so desperate to find something to complain about, instead you're drawing paralells to Sané, despite the fact Laporte has been one of Pep's favourites since he arrived and has a contract until 2025.
So stop trying to dream up problems that don't exist just so you can get hysterical about them.
