He’s just got up to speed with the league, it usually takes a season.

Solid again today, won a lot in the middle and his passing was very good.

The only issue he has is his predecessor is the best CDM this league has seen in yonks, no not Kante, the colossal Fernandinho.

Had we not had years of Fern, we’d all be waxing lyrical about Rodri right now.

He does 3 things so, so well.

1) He wins the ball back so many times, and very high up, so we can attack immediately.

2) He is absolutely always available for a pass. Whenever someone else is in under pressure, no matter how many people are on Rodri himself, he will be in position to receive the ball and ask for it.

3) He is so good under pressure. His body position, his strength, and his first touch mean he can have 2 players on his back when he recieves the ball and he will get it away accurately to someone.

I said this after the Chelsea game, people were saying he's bad under pressure and it couldn't be more wrong. He's fucking brilliant and that's why everyone constantly passes him the ball when we're getting pressed.

There's been a lot of shit posted about Rodri (and other City players); the one about him being poor under pressure is one of the worst.

Rodri is 24 and I feel his ceiling is even higher than Fern's; I hope I am right because we will really have a player on our hands.

Rodders was excellent today as he has been this season. The comparison to Dinho is unfair as while both play in the same position they are very different players.
I think a lot of people expected Rodders to be the same as Dinho whereas he is more like Busquets

Just needed a proper functioning unit around him for us to see the player he is an will be for us. Myself and many others look like we were very wrong on him!

I was critical earlier in the season but he’s been performing at a high level for a few months now. It’s unfair to compare him to Fernandinho but he does remind me of a more dominant version of Barry.
