I don't know, personally, I've whined about this for years. Even at our peak, we always held on a year or 2 too long on aging stars.

Sadly, the only 3 we were perfect on were Gundo and Mahrez. They left on time. Even though so many moaned last season about them being gone, I was happy. But then we fucker up the Gundo exit.

Yaya 2 years past it. David 1 year past it. Fernandihno and Kompany 3 years past their prime. Frankly, Sterling wanting to leave saved us on that front. We just can't help ourselves. We hold on too long.

It's now clear, Gundo is 2 years past his prime, so is Kyle ( who should have been allowed to leave for Bayern in the Gundo/Mahrez exit)..

Bernardo and Kevin are a year past their prime.

People complain about recruiting, but even when we don't get the right player or the best fit ( i.e. Nunes9 it is still far better to have that youthful energy over a slowing aging great.

Most of Liverpool's pickups are not great either. But they are young!!! Get good typing players. Some will for and others won't as well. But being young is an elixir in of itself.
It's easy to criticise KDB as "past it", but his recent injuries are the reason he has dipped so quickly.
If, and it's a huge if, he can regain his fitness and mobility, his superb football brain will get him to a very good level.
The problem is, with Bernie & Gundo looking too safe and ponderous, KDB is playing alongside deteriorating teammates.
Also with Phil, being injured so often this season, KDB is the sole creative midfielder.
Finally, the safety net of Rodri has been severely missed, so every bad ball or mistake is getting punished more frequently.
Regarding Walker, would never have him as captain and would sell him early to Sheffield United.
His behaviour yesterday was atrocious...

I don't disagree with any of the above. But part of losing your prime often is injury and the arduous task of getting back to fitness as you age.

It's been taking longer and longer to get to full fitness for Kev the last 3 or so years. At some point you just lose the ability to ever get back there...

He'll have some moments in future. But his ability to just dominate a whole game physically and with his intelligence and vision are probably a thing of the past.

Hed still make some amazing passes here and there and release Erling, Phil and Bobb when he returns and Savior when he get up.to speed l, with nice passes. But he is never going to be 28 year old Kevin again.

He is coming back from big injuries , he can still have magic moments , shame on some of you ,he is a hero that needs managing better. To ok him off and we folded

Yes, but do you believe he will be managed better, because right now we’re demanding two games a week of him? At that rate he’s more likely to be in the sick bay for the last few months of the season.

i am clinging to him getting match fit as he isnt yet , forget which game it is , last week maybe and he was making loads of chances , if thor had put some effort in he would have made something out of them, he will want to play but as soon as we can we need to manage his time better

i think a rocket up thors arse is the most pressing matter

He's finished, anyone offer any kind of fee for him in Jan we should take it and end this sorry facade that we expect him to suddenly become prime Debruyne again, best for both us and him

How many times has he been finished only to bounce back , many many times , lets see how he goes , as for getting in rid in january lol. Like we are going to let anyone go next month , our squad is down to the bare bones

How many times has he done it at 33 years old , overweight and only 6 months left on his contract?

At some point it will happen kaz, may have already. Nature taking it's course.

He is not fat , ha. Didnt he sign an extension? He is 33 not 40 !
He isn't fat correct, but he is clearly over his optimum playing weight and hasn't been able to shift it since last year, suggesting his body just can't commit to the cardio needed to get in prime condition, contract wise as far as I know it runs out summer 25 unless I have missed something?

You are right , he said he has put talks aside to recover from his big injury, he sorts his own contracts out usually so tea with pep and khaldoon and it will gst sorted

Would you really extend and risk see a rapidly deteriorating Kev become a shadow of himself or end it while we all have good memories of his peak? Sometimes a relationship can go on to long holding on to past memories rather than facing the realities of the present

You should have been a marriage guidance councillor mate :)

People on here were seriously saying he was finished 5 years ago.

He's still not fully match fit, and always took a number of games to get up to speed.

Hopefully he does in the second half of the season, with no more setbacks and a new midfielder behind him.

I want to see him fully recovered then decide , he did just get a goal and assist a couple of weeks ago so he is not finished yet

The really sad thing for me is that he's fit to play but looks nowhere near match fit. Dare I say he's carrying more than a bit of timber and needs to get properly fit and lose weight.
We can make all the reasoning and excuses we want....the real fact is that he is way past his best and he aint coming back to those levels he was once near...

Look at how he is getting dispossessed when receiving the ball in tight spaces....he can barely use his body to shield the ball anymore...he is consistently losing possession. he is not driving through the pitch with the ball anymore and even his passing game has gone.....

Tme to move on...to not do is a huge mistake...let him go and have his swan song for big money in the middle east or America....that is his level now
