Re: Tottenham vs. yellow submarine

Are we saying that if they lose this tie they will be out of europe? and all that 4th place nonsense would have been for zilch?

Whereas the liklihood is that we'll get quite a few ties out of the EL?

Lets finish THIRD or higher this season then please!!!!

Re: Tottenham vs. yellow submarine

Also, even if this was (which it isn't) a CL match for Spurs, if they lose they just drop down into the Europa League with us.

Narr they wouldn't...they wouldn't be in anything.

I wish that that were so :(

The losing teams in both sections will enter the group stage of the 2010–11 UEFA Europa League.

I'm sure i remember Rangers or Celtic not getting anything for losing the CL qualifier games, same with Everton a few seasons ago.

You're half-right. There are only three rounds where CL teams get the Europa League safety net. Before the 3rd round qualifier, they don't get it - Rangers fell foul of that in 08-09. After the group stages you don't get it. Also, if you come 4th in the groups you don't, which both Rangers and Celtic have had happen a few times. But in the 3rd round (which is what is playing this week and next), the play-offs and the group stage (3rd place only) they get the safety net.

Re: Tottenham vs. yellow submarine

so we have to play one game before the groups whilst spurs could get dicked by some latvian peasent farmers 11 (arry put 5 grand on them before the ties) and end up straight in the group stages?

What a crock of shit.
