Thinking about the 1968 Championship winning team, Dowd/Mulhearn, Book, Pardoe, Doyle, Big George Heslop, Oakes, Summerbee, Bell, Lee, Young, Coleman, sub Connor.........

How would they have faired against last night's team, and secondly how many of those would have made it in Pep's team if they were around today?

On modern pitches no chance certainly without the science, training, diet, fitness around now, if we played the 68 team at the baseball ground in the early 70's it'd be interesting tho.

What if the game was played on a 1968 pitch with a 1968 referee? Would that even it out somewhat?

The game has changed a lot since '68.

The old boys may have had a better chance playing on the old style pitches with old style refereeing but I still think the technical ability of our modern players would win the day.

You can only strive to be the best of your era.

That's the key point. Bell, having grown up playing in the world leading facilities at City, international u.23 pyramids, with the knowledge of different global footballing philosophies and tactics, with all the diet and exercise plans and equipment? Who knows? But half those players in the 60s would have a fag and a beer after every game, so of course this team would batter them!

Haha not to play down the 1968 City but it would be about 5-0 to the present team for many reasons.

I dont think any team from any club would have lived with the Centurions either.
