Thinking about the 1968 Championship winning team, Dowd/Mulhearn, Book, Pardoe, Doyle, Big George Heslop, Oakes, Summerbee, Bell, Lee, Young, Coleman, sub Connor.........

How would they have faired against last night's team, and secondly how many of those would have made it in Pep's team if they were around today?

Just a bit of fun.

Skill wise OK, but modern physique and training methods would triumph.

Skills come through training though? Modern-day footballers probably better in every way?

What you could ask but would have no way of knowing is what would Foden's Grandads be like if they played today with all the modern advantages. The potential of modern footballers is mugh higher not because their genetics are different but because football has changed so much

What if the game was played on a 1968 pitch with a 1968 referee? Would that even it out somewhat?

That's the key point. Bell, having grown up playing in the world leading facilities at City, international u.23 pyramids, with the knowledge of different global footballing philosophies and tactics, with all the diet and exercise plans and equipment? Who knows? But half those players in the 60s would have a fag and a beer after every game, so of course this team would batter them!

Haha not to play down the 1968 City but it would be about 5-0 to the present team for many reasons.

I dont think any team from any club would have lived with the Centurions either.
