2 x 2 Footed Tackles

Red card for both Fuckface and Gerald Johansen. For consistency you know...with the whole Kompany debacle and everything.

They weren't that bad. It was a derby and there should be tackles like that - and Zaba's on Young - flying in. Young petulantly threw the ball at Zabs, Zaba purposely went and hurt him; that's what happens in sports like rugby, I'd like it to come back in football too. Wellbeck and Barry's challenge was good to see and although Rooney's was a bit dodgy, he rightly got booked.

This is a sport played by men, but the game has become so sanitised and supporters so whiney about shit that derby day tackles have almost been eradicated. That should never have happened. Thirty years ago - if there were Internet forums - this thread wouldn't exist.

Fuck it. There were meaty challenges going in all the time and nobody was sent off and we won; a perfect derby. I'd like football to be more like last night, please and everyone from players to fans to grow some balls and enjoy stuff like that.
This all day, there was a moment when 5 or 6 players within about 20 seconds or so slid in full stretch with the legs, ball bobbled away both city and united players just got up and got on with it.

Whilst I agree with both of you that the game should allow more meaty tackles the point is that the current rules don't and if we're playing by the current rules then Rooney's tackle could have seen red quite easily had it been any other player on any other team. Now here's what really pissed me off last night, Rooney gets a yellow and then in the second half and not for the first time but is was easily the worst he gave a volley of abuse directly at Dean whilst gesticulating and throwing his arms around that he wasn't happy with the decision. Why oh why is this man immune from punishment for a constant lack of respect and foul language towards officials. Should have been a straight second yellow card. Balotelli and many other City players regularly receive cards for far less, Tevez last night for instance didn't even commit a foul and got a booking and Barry gets one when Giggs was actually pushing Barry far more and manhandling him and was the perpetrator of the incident and wouldn't let it drop constantly shouting 'Hey Hey Hey' whilst trying to get at him.

Managed to make the two tackles into gifs but giving this error when trying to post them,

It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image.

So heres the links

Rooneys - <a class="postlink" href="http://s5.postimg.org/t1uoecd2d/Rooney_Tackle.gif" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://s5.postimg.org/t1uoecd2d/Rooney_Tackle.gif</a>

Welbecks - <a class="postlink" href="http://s5.postimg.org/wzmjhhp9h/Wellbeck_Tackle.gif" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://s5.postimg.org/wzmjhhp9h/Wellbeck_Tackle.gif</a>

Welbecks looks worse in my opinion.

How the fuck has he not been sent off for that? If Clichy had done a Wayne Rooney and screamed in the refs face two footed challenge and shouted red then maybe he would of sent him off but our players have class

Hate to see it but our players should have rolled around like they do and got in the refs face about the tackles. I like it that we arnt like that but it does us no good on the pitch

Yes because we lost last night didn't we?!

I'd rather we never ever start that fairy boy bullshit, thanks. It's part of the sport that brings the sport down and stops it being as good as it potentially should be.

What the Rooney one doesn't show is the speed and force in which he came in 2 footed. Out of control= yes. Over Aggressive= yes. Studs showing= Yes. Both feet of the floor= Yes. Dangerous= Yes.
Red card all day long

Not really seen the Welbeck challenge from a decent angle as of yet so it's hard to make a judgment on that, but I honestly think the Rooney challenge would have been a harsh sending off.

Yellow card, yeah, about right.

His feet were low, it wasn't over the ball, it wasn't what you'd call excessive force and his second foot followed through pointing studs downwards. Not too dissimilar from a few of Kompany's challenges, that said Komp's has been sent off for them in the past so I've definitely seen them given as a red.

In a derby though, as a ref, I would ere on the side of caution and give the benefit of a doubt. Shame that Dean sort of lost it towards the end, handing out cards left, right and centre. I actually thought Rooney was lucky not to get sent off for dissent at one point.

But the derby angle doesn't hold true when Shelvy got sent off against them when at best his takle was as bad as the rags player(forget who it was). IMO the rag player's challenge was well worse and Shelvy's wasn't even 2 footed.
