20/21 1st year scholars

Why is it hard to keep the best of our academy players ?

We have the best academy/ facilities
Paid well
and we have the best manager in the world waiting to develop them.

The kid wanted to be fast tracked and according to the Transfermarkt website he has an Agent

Expect to see more of this.

They see better opportunities at a Dortmund level team (basically just below league winning teams), as they will play more youth.

Also a product of the fact we are one team, and produce youth every year, yet any player who makes it like Foden is here for 10 years atleast so the flow isnt sustainable, every 2 years we get 1 youth, we will lose way more basically.

This as well. However there is no real guarantee he will make it

Yes, some posters seem to think we should just move the entire U23 or U18 team up to the 1st team squad every season. Quite what we're supposed to do with the youth players we moved up the season before doesn't seem to occur to them.

Welcome to reality.

The standard in our league right now is that you can lose 3 or 4 matches if you want to win the title. It just doesn’t leave a lot of room for giving young players opportunity. The league desperately needs EDS style teams to be able to play in the lower divisions so they can play against men and progress. It’s going to take a remarkable talent to even get cameo appearances which is what we have seen over the last few years with Foden. Very few players will be as patient as he has been and quite frankly they’re correct not to be. These guys have 15 or so years to make the majority of their life earnings. Agents siphon off a lot of their value, especially early. It’s risky for them to toil away at lower wages waiting for a chance
