No need for doom and gloom

1. Mancini is right we need more players, this defeat may actually strengthen his position with Cook and Marwood to invest more money before the season begins.

2. Our Midfield all had an off day, I haven't seen the stats but can never remember a game when De Jong gave the ball away so much

This happens very rarely and we know that these players have previously been able to dominate in the centre.

3. United think they are still number 1 - may believe that no further investment is required.

4. Our players get a timely reminder that we still have a long way to go to reach the top

5. Rooney comments about "footballing lesson" will be remembered by the team and should be fuel to stoke the fire further

6. Even thought it was versus the rags, this game never really mattered

7. Even though we played terrible we were still able to score 2 goals and be in the game until the last minute.

8. Mancini still believes we can be champions "Why not"

9. We looked dangerous at set pieces.

10. It was highlighted that Balotelli and Dzeko together are not the greatest of partnership and that this potentially an or equation.

11. We still have Tevez and Aguero who can play up top and will be awesome this season.

12. Gary Neville is still a nob

13. Kolarov looked great at left back.

14. Lescott looks to have found his form that brought him through strongly at the end of the season.

15. It was clear that our fitness levels were not at the same stage as United - we played at 70% and United closer to 90% - we will improve

16. The majority of our players managed to get more game time under there belts

17. Potentially we have the best squad in the league and have a realistic chance of challenging for the league.

18. We will be playing Champions League this season

19 . We got through the match with no injuries

20. Aguero will make his debut against Swansea at home where we will be fired up with something to prove.

Adding from below

21. Evra is a nob.

22. Christ, we need to learn how to dive on the edge of the area to get free kicks!

23 - Dzeko showing fight and potential to cause damage when given the opportunity - Supply and demand is the key to make him prolific

24 - David De Gea made mistakes and looks like he may take time to settle

Great postitive post. I'll be staying on this one for a while. Once the lads get through your 20 points this will go to 20 pages in no time at all.

very nice list man, always good to see people looking on the bright side, the season hasn't even begun!

although i would like to add the evra is a nob as well....just saying...

Good idea Nick, and I'll take it up. Let's add to the list:

21. Evra is a nob.
22. Christ, we need to learn how to dive on the edge of the area to get free kicks!

iM 100% POSITIVE Where Bobby Manc is concerned, we lost a friendly on a parr with a testomonial,i was more pissed off losing to WBA in the carling cup last term.

And is it me but seeing the rags tossing themselves off after a C/s win shows how far we have come. They are only kidding themselves.

13. Kolarov looked great at left back.

say what? I dont agree with this at all. my reason being.. well, everything. he didnt tackle, didnt even bother to track back most time, he couldn't even take a throw in properly (hurled atleast 10 of them directly at the Utd players).

23. Anderson is an absolute monkey (and nearly died when Dzeko shoved him)

We had an off day yesterday, dont think I've ever seen as many of our big game players play poorly in one game! I dont think we will see it again. Im not going to say it was a friendly, I for one wanted that trophy. If we don't buy anymore players we will challenge for the league this season. Our main problem last season was dropping points in games we should have won because we had an inability to change tactics. This season those points will be comfortably put away. CTID

OK no disagreeing in this thread, this thread has to remain positive, but Kolarov did play well and has looked great in pre-season

Thank you, that list has cheered me up! The point about Dzeko shoving Anderson is funny too, especially as he did it so dismissivley!
