Not seen anything on here as yet, but if there is then Mods, you know what to do.

I guess it is possible that this has passed much of the English/Scottish/Irish media by but I do think it is something that deserves a greater profile.

As from 17th September there was a fundamental change in the law concerning driving in Wales and this will apply to all non-Wales residents as well. From this date the speed on restricted roads has been reduced from 30mph to 20mph. Basically all the roads you have to drive at 30mph, have in Wales been reduced to 20MPH. You might think this insignificant but when you live in a large City or a town it does affect you badly. The majority of the Welsh population are against it, to the extent that over 400,000 signatures have been collected and have been told in no uncertain terms by Mark Drakeford that he is going to ignore it, trust me there will be trouble ahead.

The pretext of doing this revolves around air quality and climate change as well as road safety - all of which can be debunked.

Air quality will not improve, Vehicles will be travelling slower for longer with engines working faster (RPMs) - have you tied travelling for miles at 20mph? you can hardly get out of second gear.

Climate change, naturally greater emissions will follow.

Road safety. There is no substantive evidence to prove that the 10 Welsh lives it is claimed will be saved will actually materialise, nor that the accidents that caused them were caused by cars travelling at 30mph, the suggestion is they were caused by cars going over the speed limit and there is no evidence to suggest that drivers that speed in a 30mph zone will miraculously become law abiding citizens and comply - the first week of anecdotal evidence is that people are taking greater risks and overtaking in dangerous situations.

For the sake of common sense and having rules that apply to the whole of Great Britain please can I ask that you all sign the petition too.

Mark Drakeford is not a person fit to run a sweet shop, never mind a nation and he must be held to account. I would hate for non-Welsh folk to penalised and get fines and points on their licences for totally unnecessary reasons.

Cheers

But most drivers only go so much over the speed limit. If it's 40mph they will drive at 50mph, if it's 30 mph they will drive at 40mph etc. So reducing the limit to 20mph will reduce speeds, even if they are still over the limit and that will result in fewer accidents, injuries and deaths. It may also reduce travel times in large conurbations, strangely enough.

There is no real evidence to back up the Welsh Government's so called facts.
ALL can be argued against and basically disproved.
The man is an idiot but it is down to the Welsh people to vote him out especially if he refuses to listen to them regarding the petition.

Bit like the Scottish government claiming increased alcohol tax has saved lives even though deaths continue to rise lol
