20MPH Speed Limit - Wales

So what do you suggest ? There are other parties, ok one will burn the holiday homes down rather than just doubling the council tax but if Drakeford refuses to listen.....
This is where the swivel eyed loonies have fucked up. They are claiming poverty and holding their hand out to the UK government yet they will waste millions on various projects. The answer Mr Drakeford is staring you in the face....
We have a holiday rental cottage, we pay nothing in council tax, neither do thousands of others, we are classed as a business and pay business rates, we get a 100% rebate so pay nothing and it's great. However, we really would rather pay our way for the services we recieve than pay nothing for the services we recieve but the system lets us off. On the other hand, if we rent our property out for for anything less than 183 nights then we are penalised, in Pembrokeshire by a 100% levy on top of the annual rate, folk round here, Gwynedd will have to 150% on top of their annual rate. We've just scraped through so far with 190 days, this is only achievable at the moment by reducing prices. We have lost clients who have just given up, sold up or resigned themselves to the huge increase, couple that with the economic climate as it is, post covid house sales and the Welsh nationalist view that by driving the house prices down will attract all the locals back to work in the vast industries that will miraculously rise from the ashes, also remembering that it was thier parents who took the English pound in the first place. Tourism will be down, local income will be down, less jobs will be available and the as with the slow down of major industry, the knock on effect is being seen......So, scrap the business rate rebate on holiday homes and let every one who owns or rents a property pay the fair and going rate, it's not rocket science. As mentioned before, Mark Drakeford couldn't run a sweet shop, the guy can't run a bath.

We’ve had 20mph in towns across the Scottish Borders for a couple of years now. To be honest most don’t keep to it, but few cars exceed around 25ish were they used to drive 30-35 ish and people seemed to have got used to it now.

My average speed works out over the 139,000 miles that it's done is very surprisingly only 26.4 mph.

So they are still breaking the law and risking fines and points? We have had trials around schools and other high footfall areas and they have been fully backed, the issue here is it is everywhere. It is pointless without value and the money that has been spent could have been better invested by maybe enforcing with cameras the 30mph or even by repairing the roads which are in a dreadful state here

Easy to say from over here as I don’t have to personally deal with it but all school zones over here are 25 mph during school time, seems sensible to me
Makes it easier to shoot at the moving vehicles I suppose.
