First off, he's simply a talented player.

I don't think we have seen the best of him out wide and the received wisdom seems to be that two bouts of Covid have held him back, including when it comes to sprinting. I have seen more than one suggestion that he lacks pace but one survey (based on La Liga’s analysis tool MEDIACOACH) had him clocked as the sixth fastest player in Spain's top flight last season.

I just think that he has played too conservatively on the wing; not sure why but maybe he is just getting used to Pep's rules.

That he evidently has both and eye for a goal and the nose for it just makes the feee City paid for him look even more of a steal.

Just look at the age of him and Phil and imagine what they could be like either side of a new young superstar centre forward. They might end up ripping the league apart for years - the potential is there.

What is undoubted and undeniable is that we a fine hat trick he bagged against the Barcodes, including, for me the goal of the season: as soon as the ball left Mr Whippy's foot it screamed assist and Ferran went all Ninja and obliged with a Bruce Lee back heel of sublime beauty that had hipsters across the land proclaiming "tekkers".

I didn't expect him to score as many as he has. His goal record at Valencia was pretty average.

As a general rule of thumb teenagers don't score goals.

Messi is probably the greatest goalscorer of all time and he scored 9 goals as a teenager. Ronaldo scored less than 20.

With a few notable exceptions most goalscorers don't get going until they're 21/22

Its not really surprising that he has doubled his number from Valencia in a much better side.

Torres is much better playing central - he has an obvious gift for scoring goals. On the wing he struggles to consistently beat his man one-on-one and his passing/crossing are good - but not exceptional.

Playing central - he makes intelligent runs and if he gets the ball he'll most often deliver an on-target shot.

IMO Torres is currently the closest we have in our squad as a replacement for Aguero - it remains to be seen if he's good enough to become our first choice striker.

Man City Tactics on Twitter has done some analysis of him, in a direct comparison to Jesus from the Newcastle game. The kid has an instinct to make strikers runs, that IMO is something you either have or you don't. It can be taught, but the guys that have a hunger and desire to score goals have this naturally. When he moved inside there was an immediate change to his runs, and if you remember back to when he was playing the 9 (and imo it wasn't even false 9, it was out and out 9) he was brilliant up there. We've not really seen much from him out on the wings, although he did well for Spain there, i wouldn't be against us just working on him in the central position. Kid can go far.

He makes great runs like Sterling (maybe not as good as him yet) but his finishing is a class above. I think he might be the best finisher in our team with KDB/Whippy/Kun.

Not as good as Kun, better than KDB and generally better than Whippy (except for those 20 games in the middle of the season)?
